Frank De Boer “I was interviewed [about Spurs job] and I gave an honest answer”

We really are clowns when it comes to Comms. The fact that that statement included the word 'NOT' all in capitals is so amateurish. I very much doubt De Boer would carry on with this, even going as far to say he was interviewed unless it did happen. The disconnect might be that he is talking about being interviewed in December, prior to Tim getting the job and our announcement relates to now. If that's the case, then we were too vague with our statement and have mucked it up.

Spurs should have made it clear they did not want any public knowledge of an approach if they spoke to him.
On the other hand, he hasn't helped the situation at all and I can see this falling through, levy does not like Tottenham in the media. We are notorious for not commenting on any transfer activity etc. If FDB is this flippant now how bad will he be with sensitive matters in the future?

We look like idiots, because that is who run the club. If we approached De Boer we should be honest about the situation. I would tell Tim and the world he is gone at the end of the season, the man is not qualified to manage a power league team let alone a real football team. The fact is you have not heard enough from his ex team mates that he is capable of doing the job. Spurs need to put out a clear message and back the person who is in charge, and I hope it is not Sherwood.

Fuck knows who's in charge of our PA department. I'm sorry but we look like mugs again. Really sympathy with Sherwood and what his had to put up with people can say what they like but imo Sherwood has shown good leadership and deserves the job if you consider his results.

Well said that man!

I must take exception though about Sherwood. He in my humble opinion has delivered results under the most severe media pressure of any manager outside of Moyes has had to undertake this season.

Credit to him for rising above this, trying to make the team better and for being honest and forthright in his media interviews.

I reckon talks were held and Frank said thanks but the answer's no, Spurs are now denying making any contact to save face!

I'm not convinced of that, since his brother is giving quotes about how well he would do if he took it. If he'd turned it down already, there'd be no point saying that.
I think the LVG ship has sailed, FDB is next on the list, if that bombs too, then Pochettino on standby.

If LVG is not coming, we must get the next guy on the list early so that he can prepare for the pre-season properly. And since most of the first team will be away to the WC, he would have the chance to fine tune the structure of the junior levels to merge with his plans for the first team.

Aren't people getting ahead of the themselves on this "interview" business? The report makes it clear that the "interview" was with the Dutch press, it wasn't a job interview with Spurs, and FdB simply gave an honest answer to the journos' question.

All the rest is conjecture, clearly intended to sell newspapers in Amsterdam and North London.

I'd take DeBoer over LVG - our team seems better suited for his type of operation - particularly with two key players that have featured under him.

So have Spurs contacted Ajax to inquire about the availability of Frank De Boer?

Read the full article at 101 Great Goals
Sounds like he's more than happy at Ajax and is angling for a major payrise. And who could blame him.

But when the Barcelona job becomes available i reckon we might have some competition.

Frankly I'd rather manage Cardiff than our lot given the amount of cash we are likely to have available in the transfer window and the way our chairman does business in the market.

Just cannot agree with this
DL is not an idiot
TS is not good enough to manage a conference side going on his approach to most of our games
It is not the media pressure that TS has made TS what he is

Why he cannot play a better game in the press room shows his lack of real understanding

Like Rogers said (or allegedly said) he dodged a bullet not accepting the Spurs job.

Whoever comes in will be thinking money first, ambition second. Any potential manager thinking the other way around hasn't checked out Levy's revolving door that's been installed in the managers office.

First Rogers had also said Spurs are a top club
Second what ever manager is at the helm next year they will not be thinking in the way you suggest. It is not the nature of the game or managers aspirations. It is just a take that fans like to put n it

You make it sound that we are the only club that works on that basis. It really isn't. Sure we have made mistakes but the manager appointment is as tricky as buying expensive foreign players. They don't all work

TS has been quizzed about his position performance and players. It's his responses that attract such attention

This refreshingly frank is a means to an end. He is not the first manager to think it's the way to go but most have had the sense to play it differently

I don't understand why De Boar had to mention this. I don't believe it was because he wanted to give a 'honest' answer. He should have said "I'm not discussing other clubs who currently have a manager. It is disrespectful to that manager". Simple. That's what I've heard others say before. He must have known this was going to cause a stir. It makes me wonder if he's touting for a bigger job.

I imagine Levy is pissed about this. He had enough of Harry talking about the England job and if it's true that he's approached De Boar he's not going to be happy that De Boar has announced it to the press. He may well have talked himself out of this job now.

If Levy has approached LVG and FDB I'd assume he's approached or sounded out others who will do well to keep their mouths shut until Tim has officially been 'released'!
