Pochettino's stats (borrowed from another forum)

Games managed 220
Won 76
Drawn 55
Lost 89

2 countries, 2 teams.

His teams have Finished in 5 campaigns:
11th
10th
Sacked mid season, bottom three at time
14th took over mid season
8th

One season out of 5 have his teams scored more than conceded!

Doesn't read too well does it?

What would you regard as good win ratios for those clubs in their respective leagues then? Saints are nailed on for 8th this season, finishing 1 place below last year's champions. They may also get their highest points tally of the PL era.
I wouldn't place all your weighting on win ratios unless you compare apples with apples (e.g. how 2 coaches fared at the same club, or at clubs of similar stature in similar divisions) - it's more about the difference the coach makes to the team and whether they add value IMHO.

Two top players with ambition would be more excited by a quadrouple Dutch title winner and former world class player than a sacked espanyol boss and manager of a mid table club at present.
Why would they think anymore of him than say Mark Hughes?

You're assuming Verts and Eriksen enjoyed working under FDB. Maybe the reason they left was because they didn't? If that were the case then FDB's appointment would hasten their departures.

Go play with Google for a little bit and see how good your guesswork is.

Eriksen:
He told The Sun: "On a professional level, De Boer is the coach who has had the biggest influence on me.

"He understood me very well. He gave me the responsibility to play my own game, to get involved, to get the ball and show my talent.

"I only had good years with him so I don't have anything bad to say."

Vertonghen (who emerged under FDB and whom FDB made Ajax Captain:

"He's the best coach I've had"
"Debuting at Ajax was always very hard, but I have a feeling that even fourth class amateurs can be fit now (google translate here btw). Everyone knows exactly what to do. There is clarity. And that is a compliment to Frank de Boer"

Google is your friend (y)

Whoever we pick, it's only one thing that is certain: The one we don't pick will turn out to be magnificent, and we regret not picking him while we had the chance. Story of our lives.

Very cynical indeed. But then supporting this club makes you that way after a while ;)

Why do I have this deep fear in me that we'll bag David Moyes? I mean, Alan Sugar was out there making overtures about firing AVB, playing Adebayor, installing Tim Sherwood and Les Ferdinand as chief coaches and longing for Sir Alex Ferguson. Well, since Fergie isn't around, maybe his hand-picked successor may be to the liking to Sir Sugar and it's apparent that he wields more decisional power on Spurs than originally thought.

Is there a black cloud permanently hovering above you head, or is supporting Spurs generally a miserable experience for you?

Fuck me is that part of the job interview process at Spurs?. Sounds like long gone are the days when you sit down with a CV and laptop at an interview with a football Chairman?

He's simply saying that he'll make the grass pitch for the new stadium, if we give him the job.

Nice little sweetener from him!

I do think FDB comes across as a bigger name, based on his playing record and now his managerial success at Ajax. I think appointing him could resurrect Vertonghen from his sulky slump in form. I think with a recognised man like FDB at the top, and a resurgent Jan, then Lloris may feel its worth sticking around.
However, I can also see a good case for Pochettino. His record at a mediocre Southampton is reminiscent of Rogers's record at a mediocre Swansea. I think given the parallels, and the style in which he has Southanpton playing, he could be a good option to actually get our clutch of international calibre individuals playing as a team.
I'd be happy with either.

I'm not enamoured with Pochettino. Yes he has achieved a decent position in the league with the Saints and they play some decent football but they look almost as bad in defence as we do and if he brings in his staff I see no improvement in this department. We badly need a coaching team to come in and sort out our shower of a defence. When we played them their defence looked even more vulnerable than ours if that is possible. It was of if you think were bad we can raise you on that and do worse.
I'd rather see us go for FDB.
