For what it's worth, PSG are supposedly after Weigl on loan with an option. Not sure if that has any relevance to De Jong as he won't be going anywhere till summer.

They've been linked to a lot of midfielders. Fingers crossed.

They need both, especially with Rabiot on his way out.
True, but they do have serious problems with FFP. I just don't get how they can afford De Jong at all, even with a few smaller sales like Rabiot and Lo Celso. Weigl on loan makes a lot of sense for them as it is.

They play by their own rules. If you’ve read any of the football leaks stuff it shows how them and Man City just flout the FFP rules constantly.

He said on Twitter a couple of weeks back. Something along the lines that for a player who is going to double our transfer record he hasn’t got enough special qualities
Bossed City in UCL this year, rumored interest from PSG & City but isn't good enough for Spurs! De Jong or bust is a fantastic plan so far.

Maybe it's not a matter of thinking Ndombele isn't good enough, it's just that we think that De Jong is worth the 80M it would cost to get him but Ndombele isn't (maybe we value him closer to 45-50M)?

Yeah read those reports. But despite that I did think that FFP was going bro become more stringent moving forward. Ether way, it's true PSG have significantly slowed down their spending. Still as you say, they probably will find a way around it.

I'd gladly take either.
I'd also be shocked if Ndombele went for 80 mil.

Fekir (their captain and best player) was going to Liverpool for 45mil last summer. I'd expect the final fee to be somewhere around that number. Lyon are just trying to scare people away/get a bidding war going.

Go get me an Ndombele and a Berge and let's go!

You’d think that if we put £50m on the table (or maybe factor in an N’Koudou maybe) that Lyon would find it incredibly hard to turn down. Chances of us doing that though....

Nah they’ve got the French Levy is their chairman. They only really sell players on their own terms.

Last season some people on here were talking about us buying him as a centre back, too. Things have moved on pretty quickly for him, and I think Holland's international resurgence with him in the middle of the pitch has certainly helped on the hype front.

I think one of the reasons he's so highly prized is due to these progressive managers at top clubs wanting confident ball-players who are defensively disciplined and tactically educated all in one. It's a fairly rare mix, especially if you need that player to already be displaying a high level of talent and still be young enough to mould.

He pretty much ticks all of those boxes.

I think 4-5 years ago it would have been a lot easier for us to buy a player in his situation.

Sounds like city will enter the fray too given your description, as they had struggled without Fernandinho this season n he's no spring chicken
