I'm not sure we'll even beat Bolton yet....

But, as a general idea, a semi-final with an evening kick off actually sounds good to me. The atmosphere would probably be better as most night matches are

IF we do get to the semi then we should refuse any request to change it. Whilst I agree that the FA should be helping clubs in Europe, they havent and we shouldnt be helping out our rivals now it has been scheduled the way it has. It would have been more sensible for the Chelsea v Spurs/Bolton game to be on the Saturday and made the Scousers play on anniversary day, not sure if thats a harsh viewpoint but its how I see it.

Politics eh?!

For the record I agree and whilst it's been talked about to death, having the semi-final's played at Wembley is still absurd.

Screw them.

My issue with the idea of the FA helping our clubs in Europe is that it cannot possibly end just there. By helping a club in Europe you are helping them to earn much more cash than the other clubs in the domestic league, and also helping them to compete better in the league games either side of their European fixtures. This has both short and long term effects in favour of those teams competing in Europe, as it allows teams to benefit from all the perks of European football (attracting players, earning more money) without suffering any of the levellers (tired players etc). Therefore helping teams in European competition is tantamount to indirectly discriminating against those teams not in European competition.

Prioritising and squad management is a part of the game and a great leveller - no football association should get involved unless there are extenuating circumstances, or it is simply impractical for them not to do so (i.e moving a Monday night game when the European fixture is scheduled for the Tuesday).

And as others have said, the FA Cup semi finals should bean occasion. Playing the game on the Friday night would prevent that being the case and be detrimental to the competition in a year when we may actually have a wide-open showpiece final between 2 teams for whom winning the cup would be the pinnacle of their season.

Because it's an FA Cup semi final, it's at Wembley, it's a great day out, it's an occasion not a knock off work an hour early to turn up at Wembley suited and booted grabbing a dodgy burger and downing a quick pint then rushing half a mile to the ground just as importantly; fuck Europe!!

I don't think it should be moved by the way.:)

FA Cup finals should not be at Wembley, the fact they are is a joke

I think logistics is why it will not be moved to Friday

Would you be happy to help them and they go on to win the thing and get in next season's CL at our expense?

Irrelevant as we will finish 3rd in the league.

To be honest, Im surprised the Chelsea v THFC/Bolton was selected as the Sunday game anyway with the potential of Chelsea playing on the Tuesday so thought the FA may have selected that as the Saturday game anyway but they havent so they need to accept it and deal with it. It's a squad game and fixture pile ups occur, every team has them at some point.

Hillsborough anniversary meant Scousers cannot play on April 15th , a bit like no meat on Good Friday for Roman Catholics

It could be irrelevant if we don't beat Bolton first.

So, I'll give my views on this as and when it is appropriate to do so.

very much THIS

Obviously this is all irrelevant until the end of the game today, but if they want to play it on the Friday I say we counter-offer with playing it on the Tuesday morning.

I hope either us or Bolton refuse their request. Why should any other club care if Chelsea have too many games in a short period of time?

Yup, especially since it's really bad for all fans.
If Bolton get to the semi (not gonna happen... I know), their travelling support will have a nightmare to get home at night.

There is no other team that I dislike more than Chelsea, but even taking that out of the equation, this is a silly idea.

IMO, FA should either grow some anti-scouser balls and just swap the semifinal to Saturday, or decline Chelsea's request.

Anyway, what's this silly idea of not playing football to commemorate people who loved the game?

not sure if it could be on the friday anyway, Frank turner is on at wembley arena so can they use both at the same time? Best not as would cause a lot of trouble if I chose football over that gig!

The game must be played as is normal.

If these teams don't like the prizes of their success (more games), simply avoid qualifying for the Champion's League.

The CL semi isn't for another 3 days after the FA semi. They should man up.

Yeah never understood why they're at Wembley. Wembley should only be for finals.

IMO the FA should choose 2 semi-final venues at the start of each season from all stadiums that can hold 30,000+ spectators excluding Wembley. And 1-back up venue for the unlikely event that the two clubs who's stadiums have been chosen to hold the semi-finals get drawn against each other.

There's about 22 stadiums to choose from.

From what I read in the Evening Standard tonight, they haven't got a hope in hell of getting the game moved. F.A won't move it under these circumstances and rightly so
