Was one of those... "how the heck did that happen" kind of match. not sure how we won. we look sluggish and uninspired. Not sure why we tinker and played 3-4-3 instead of the usual 4-2-3-1. i think we had too much time to prepare for the match... (unless we plan to use 3-4-3 vs chelsea in mid week, so it was a "practice" session").

The fact that we had 3 healthy CBs may have had something to do with it. Besides, it has been a month or so since we played a 4-2-3-1 as we have been playing a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield.

I feel exactly the same. He regularly misses headers he should be going for at corners etc. I am not at all convinced as many seem to be on here that he is really a 40 million pound player and a great prospect. He has a great build for a CD but doesn’t really use this strength and is too often chasing after players because of his dodgy positioning.
I like Sanchez, but I'd rather see Foyth playing with Toby and Jan. He might not be as fast or as strong, but on the ball he's mustard.

Been saying it for months, with the ball at his feet Sanchez is one of the worst players we have. He is a solid prospect but his poor positional awareness gets him into trouble and forces him to make "Hollywood" tackles and blocks.

Foyth has looked far better with the ball at his feet, more comfortable bringing the ball out. Wolves game aside he's been solid and rarely put a foot wrong.

you have heard the saying"one mans ceiling is another mans floor " to illustrate I thought that Sanches was immense and second only to Winks.Mitrovic tried to bully him but he was not having any nonsense.Rose should not have been booked because he did not dive and how Sanches was booked for the second incident with Mitrovic I will never understand.

Apologies if this has been dealt with earlier in the thread, but I have to get it off my chest.

I have heard several pundits giving their opinion about the penalty appeal Fulham had in the first half when Vertonghen pulled Mitrovic over. 'Stone wall penalty' they say; 'Fulham were unlucky'; 'Spurs got away with one'. Bollocks. Yes, Jan had a handfull of Mitrovic's shirt, and yes, he pulled him over. Why did he pull him over? Because Mitrovic had shoved him to the ground.

It shouldn't have been a penalty because a foul had been committed by Mitrovic to put Jan on the floor. If Jan hadn't been sitting on his arse (or on the way down) he wouldn't have pulled him.

As for 'getting away with one' if the ref had any balls then a) he wouldn't have played to the crowd and booked Sanchez for nothing when Mitrovic wrestled him to the floor; and b) Mitrovic would've had a second yellow when he shoved Sanchez in the back after the ball had gone out for a throw.

Rant over.

Thanks.

But they weren't and the pen wasn't given?

Pointless trying to debate what if scenarios, at the end of the day they found themselves in that given situation because of how the game fared, it's called game management and they should have used it there.

We both are entitled to our opinions on what should or should not have been done. It’s clear that our opinions differ. I’m fine with that as this is an open forum and it’s good to discuss the different views.

It’s clear that our individual opinions on this issue will not change so let’s not drag it any further. Let’s just agree to disagree.

Cheers

Something that occurred to me during the game was how much Mitrovic reminded me of Vardy under Ranieri, not exactly how he played but the way he was always getting involved with the defender going down and claiming a foul time after time after time, to put it simply, cheating, and I just think its the mark of the manager.

I can see how you prefer you prefer to build your room then but for me on top of him being too easily out witted by Babel and us having to be saved by a last ditch challenge by Vertonghen, also remembering many other games he has fluffed moments in games. Getting the better of Mitrovic still doesn't give me confidence we will see a flawless MOTM performance by him soon.
