Last season we failed to beat everton , liverpool , newcastle , leicester and chelsea ...... This season we have already failed to beat both everton and liverpool ........ Same fate waiting for us against leicester and chelsea as well ?
This year we do have better depth to our squad and the better experience gained will stand them in good stead against some of the games that we should have won last year that we lost or drew. I feel quietly confident that we will get more points than last year, where that will leave us in terms of league position is a different matter!

Your glass is half full.

Last year we had our best league season in most of our lifetimes. This summer we strengthened. I personally think 'like for like' game comparisons are pointless as all teams change quite a lot between seasons. However, for the sake of that exercise (that is what this thread is about after all) we only need to change one or two results from last year to come even closer to finishing first. I'd look at the games where we dropped points against bottom half teams (e.g. WBA, Newcastle) rather than those from last year against the champions, Liverpool and Chelsea.

A lot of us were born before 87.

October 15/16 - 16/17- -/+ - (15/16 fixture in game order)

WBA (a) - D 1-1 - D 1-1 - level - (15/16 Swansea 2-2 +5)

Total: 18pt
Current projection: 70pts

after what i did get too watch today which wasn't much due to a very slow internet link (same happened in the WBA game last season) it's starting to feel like groundhog day:ROFLMAO: though by sounds of it Foster was motm, though the time wasting by him I reckon we should still be playing.

lets hope Toby isn't out for too long, and hopefully repeat the result next week v Bournemouth who at least won't park 2 buses and should be a pretty open game

Does it really matter? Our current projection is still 70 points like last season.

that's the projection if every result matches, so just say we beat Bournemouth next week, then only draw with Leicester, that goes up with just 10 games played, which would improve us

when we played WBA last season away the stats showed 1-1 quite a fair result, though WBA was a head in a few, this time their keeper was motm, in a game we pretty much dominated.

the question of improvement should at least wait till the halfway point

Very hard to say we've improved or not, year on year comparisons are difficult to compare if you're going by results.

Ok thanks. Is this not a comparison for the actual same game for game last season?

It covers 2 things, mainly the same game which is the main reason for this thread, but I've added the info in brackets to show a + or - after the same amount of games. If you have a look at the OP it will give you an idea what I'm doing
