So if we do match the comparison it will be a better season, but very close for fourth and if Chelski won all of ther games we would pip them by a point.

we can't match last season, if we get the same results as last season in our last 3 we will finish in 4th, but will be 10pts less than last season, so definitely not a better season

I like the thread. One of my favourites on SC. Looking at november. That run of Arsenal, West From and Leicester really did throw of our season. I honestly believe we would have been fighting of united for second rather than trying to pip Chelsea to fourth if we had been better.

We are 5 points ahead of Chelsea having played the same number of games. We are 1 point behind Liverpool having played 1 game less. We're not fighting Chelsea for 4th, we're fighting Liverpool for 3rd.

Like many on here I've been supporting Spurs for a long time and it's sometimes hard to remember that we are in a new era, where we don't ALWAYS go all Spursy! :cautious:

After the last month it just feels so hard to believe at times. But this team is very different to any I have known before. I just won't believe we are battling Liverpool for 3rd till we have actually done the business. Till then I'm still nervous about 4th.

I do understand what you're saying, but Chelsea play Liverpool on Sunday. They can't both get 3 points and we are only 1 point behind Liverpool with a game in hand. We have to be really up for it on Saturday. Win that game and a draw on Sunday would be perfect. It would guarantee 4th and we'd only need one win out of the next 2 games for 3rd. It's in our own hands and I'm sure Poch will get the boys ready for it!

It would be nice to win the last 3 games and finish on 80 points. We'd be only 6 points off our total from last season but having been at Wembley for the duration. I'd have taken that all day if offered that last summer.

IMO West Brom will be the toughest game of the 3. They're still fighting as long as they're not officially down and their form under Darren Moore has been excellent (won 2, drawn 2).

Newcastle have been decent in 2018 but they're certainly very beatable and have nothing to play for. Lost 2 on the bounce and we're at "home" so I fancy a win from that one.

Leicester, nothing pleases me more than seeing these frauds in such a mess. Lost 3, drawn 1 in the last 4 games including an absolute battering by Palace of all teams. They're home to WHU and Goons before us so every chance they're winless in 6 before getting to us. By all accounts Puel has lost whatever grip he had on them and I'd therefore also expect us to roll them over. If we could smash them 5-0 or so to cap the season and secure 3rd then I'd consider it to be a very good season overall.

High point: Beating Real Madrid 3-1 at home and topping the CL group.
Low point: FA Cup semi defeat to Utd and the capitulation vs Juve.

Can't help but wonder what might have been if we'd still been at WHL coming off our 2nd placed finish from last season. I'd genuinely believe we'd have mounted a decent title challenge and certainly gone further in the CL. If Liverpool could do it then we certainly could. Another nearly but not quite season but still impressive nonetheless and progress has been made. Massive summer ahead. I'd even go as far as to say it'll be make or break for this particular squad of players.

Great post, right on the money.

We have taken 37 points from 17 PL games since 02 Jan (just under 2.2 ppg). The preceding 20 also resulted in a total of 37 points (1.85 ppg). Extrapolating the 17 game figure over a full season would leave us just under last season's tally (slightly under 83 points). Can read all kinds of things into that (or find excuses) but, all in, that's an impressive run in. Only 2 defeats in the last 17 too.
