The reason we lost the league to Leicester and Chelsea is because we didn't have a Mahrez or a Hazard. That's what most of us mean when we say we're lacking a game changer and I think most would agree. We've got a lot of very, very good players but no 'special' player who can produce a bit of magic and win a game by themselves IMO, for example when we had Bale. That's the only thing stopping us from winning the league.
What the fuck? Can Kane not score from anywhere? Can Eriksen not score a free kick goal out of nothing or play a sublime assist to someone for a winning goal? Can Alli not produce a moment of magic and win us a game like he did against Palace? Can Son not run rings around opposition players and score 20 a season?

We’ve got loads of game changers.

LIverpool had 2 of those "game changers" you mention on the pitch at the same time v Utd a couple of weeks ago yet didn't score.
True but they created a bucket load of chances we didn’t. Yes we were away but still.

Yes,he’s great from deep but he can’t that often beat a man, go past them with pace etc. That game today at 0-0 was tailor made for a Hazard type player to change the game. Kane usually is the one who does that for us but other than him we don’t have anyone like that if Son isn’t on form.
Thing is when you are talking about needing a "Hazard type player" what you actually mean is Hazard himself. He is one of the very top players in the world in his position which is why he is so good at doing what he does. If we were to get a "Hazard type player" he would not be as good as the original and so less effective at doing the things we need him to do.

I was not referring to him as a game changer per se. I was just replying to your comment that we should sell him (together with the other three). I think we should see how he performs, after his long layoff, before we decide whether to keep or sell him.
I reckon he'll go out on loan in January - probably back to Italy - and that will be the last we see of him. He will forever be an enigma at Spurs. Just have that feeling that his moment has passed and he won't come back. Could easily be wrong though!

Probably due to the fact that they can afford to have players earning £200k a week on the bench.
I don't think it's about salaries. We seem capable of keeping our best players happy on "low" wages comparatively speaking, so we ought to be able to add four or five more. It's the difference between finding a player like Son versus a player like GKN.

i think "gamechanger" for many ultimately comes down to being able to dribble past opponents and as good as eriksen, alli and kane are, dribbling isn't really their forte. son's excellent at running with the ball when a game opens up but struggles when the game is more compact.

I disagree. Kane is the closest thing we have but he's more of a finisher than anything else, give him a chance and he'll probably score it but he's not going to regularly run past multiple players and win a game singlehandedly. Eriksen is a quality player but I can't remember the last freekick he scored, I guess Swansea away? That was a while ago. Alli's goal against Palace was two seasons ago. Son has scored two goals this season. You're citing one-offs or rare occurences.

I'm not saying that we don't have quality players. I've never enjoyed watching Spurs as much as I do now, but if I look at it from a neutral stand-point, there's no way that we're winning the league with this team. The last two seasons are pretty solid proof of that.

It most definitely is bro, if wages wasn't an issue we'd have the likes Mane, Zaha, Wijnaldam in our squad ready to be called on. Now our wage wouldn't even get us Jesse Lingard or Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.

So then say I think we could do with a good dribbler (which would be equally stupid but would make more sense as you’re referring to a specific skill set) this “game changer” phrase is pissing me off as anyone can change a game at any given time, especially those I mentioned.

I’ve seen Kane power past loads of people, as I have seen Son ghost past people like they’re not there. Eriksen uses his intelligence to take people out of the game.

I’m citing one off things as it would take forever to list all the amazing things the players I’ve mentioned have done in the last season or 2. You are aware that Son, Alli and Kane all scored 20 plus goals last season, right? Are you really bothered how they do that or is your need for a dribbler so desperate that you’re willing to overlook the great things those amazing players do?

Also, the main thing that went against us these last 2 seasons with Leicester and Chelsea is not the personnel but more the fact that Chelsea and Leicester had no european football to deal with in those seasons.

Almost everything you point out is untrue.

Last season the only team of the Top 6 that scored more set-piece goals than us was Chelsea. The only team to concede less set-piece goals than us was Arsenal.

Gary Cahill scored 6 goals last season...which was an anomaly as his usual tally 1-2 goals per season.

Edit: This season we are 2nd top scorers from set-pieces and have conceded only 2 goals from set-pieces in the league.
Interesting but I'd like to see what the % figures for goals scored and conceded from free kicks and other set pieces are. We concede so few free kicks and corners yet of the goals we concede a large proportion seem to be from them, and teams seem to be inordinately successful from them. Obviously, they can't score more goals from corners than the number of corners they get. Likewise corners. It's not uncommon for us to have 10, 15 or more corners in a game yet goals scored from them seem very rare. This season so far in the PL, we've had 70 corners. How many goals from corners though?

I'm honestly not overlooking anything, mate. I've literally stated/agreed with everything you've said, all I'm saying is that we need something extra if we're going to win the league and truly compete in the Champions League IMO.

I never said we need a dribbler. What we need is a direct runner with the ball, basically a more consistent version of Son. I honestly believe that if we had a Sanchez, Aguero, Hazard, Bale etc we would win the league comfortably, they're just a level above at this moment in time.

Each to their own though, we just disagree. It happens.

Like a poster said in this thread earlier we need a Zaha type at the moment , I have seen him take on a Few people, IDK if we are gonna spend the money to get a Jesus type of player but he would be great imo

No doubt we’d win the league if we had bale but equally if we got Modric or Kroos or some other worldly we’d probably win it. I disagree that we need this direct runner type perhaps we could do with Son and other players to be more consistent but I guess that comes with the territory with having a young squad

After last night's result we don't need a game changer. We can put that to bed until we next lose at which point, one will be required again. D'ya see how this works now? :D

Haha touché mate but still think we need one to be added to the squad to take us to the next level and help us win something. Last night was incredible but in those cup quarters , semis and finals when games are tight and so so important just like the one away to man.u was as that was a 6pointer they are the games where we need that hazard type of player/ another Son off the bench as an option. If we get that we have it all.

Zaha would be the missing piece in th puzzle, then Barkley to replace Sissoko.
Done.
