Bale's on aprx. £250,000 a week. So unless he's ready to cut that in half there is no way he'll join Spurs.
He's also been very injury prone. And no, I don' think the medics at Spurs are any better than the medics at Real M. in healing and preventing such injuries (but I would love to be proven wrong)...

Does anyone honestly believe we'd get Bale without someone else going the other way, someone we definitely would not want to see the back of?

Real Madrid only do deals that they come out on top in. Expecting anything else is rather naive IMO.

That's not true. There's Rodriguez to Bayern on a two year loan deal at Bayern for a start.

When Bale leaves Madrid he'll very likely be taking a chunky pay cut wherever he ends up. This matching his wages business isn't going to happen. Anywhere. IMO of course :D

Loved watching him in a Spurs shirt. But like my Dad used to say, in life we move forward, don't go chasing yesterday.

I think he'd have to be considered a luxury player. His injury record at RM suggests he'd likely only be available inconsistenly.

Add to this his pace is going to drop off and his mun, and I'd have to agree with my good old dad. Let's look to the future and try to snaffle the next young player capable of emulating Mr Bales damn fine displays in a Spurs shirt.

(Minus the not being on the winning side for the first 23 games)

Was 23 wasn't it?.

No doubt. Who would be crazy enough to pay 250k a week to someone who is likely to miss over half the season due to injury?

West Ham would be all over that.

We'll just have to hope Bale doesn't fancy playing in the Championship.

Bulking up seems to have been to his detriment, never had that explosive change of gear for Real, and lost agility too.

He's either finished or will need to completely change the way he plays.

In hindsight and given all his injuries, it was a very good bit of business, HAD WE invested the proceeds more astutely.

Think you dad gives far better advice than mine.

Really don't see any up side to a potential transfer anymore, although once I would of said different. It's more risky for us than him now.

Looks like in this particular card game Levy chose to twist at the right time.

It’s a shame for Bale as he’s a great player, but it looks like we had him at his peak. He did brilliantly for Real when he first arrived, but it’s just been setback after setback since then.

I remember years ago, an ITK, (I don't recall who), mentioned in passing there was a player in the squad who had a very concerning situation with their ankles, that was chronic, and could lead to another Ledley-like problem. Again, my memory is hazy on this, but I think the implication was it could be just small handful of players they were referring to, one of which was Bale.

as much as i'd actually love to see him back with us, I believe that he'd likely spend more than 40% of his time injured. which essentially is a waste of a wage. I truly hope to be proven wrong, and that he can make a full recovery and play injury free for the rest of his career, but if past is prologue, I don't like this chances.

Damn I actually feel sorry for him. His career completely ruined by all these injuries. I don't think anyone will take him. He should just retire and join our coaching team :)
