I’m still not entirely sold on the idea really. I kinda feel like his time here is over. Once a player leaves I lose a bit of love for them - though he is definitely good enough to soon make me change my tune. It would be a real statement signing, which admittedly I’m all for.

Dear Mr Levy...

Get the stadium handed over by the start of August, we can buy Bale and then sell tickets for his homecoming /announcement/ signing and use it as one of the test events!

Win Win!! Bale and Cheese :)

In 30 years time when they're doing a documentary on how spurs miraculously usurped peps "once in a generation" man city team to claim Tottenham's first league title since the 60s.

They'll talk about how we took a massive gamble on a an out of favour injury prone player. And how that gamble paid off in true "audere est facere" style. The missing piece of the jigsaw. The sprinkle of magic.

... I think that's why we need him if there's any chance at all we can get him. It sounds silly but if Gareth Bale walks into the training ground it would fill the players, fans, everyone with belief we can go do something big next season. It's a statement. And it just so happens when he's fit he's still fucking shit hot at football.

Love the sentiment, but, mate, it's Spurs.

In the contract when we sold him we have first dibs at any fee that comes in and is accepted, so it is possible for him the return. We just need to see whether Daniel is as tight as a camels arse in a sandstorm.

He’d probably take no.9 for us, no? He used that number in America for us one pre-season.

to all those still drumming the WAGES drum, if Bale was only in the game for money, he surely would of chose Man U over us when he left Southampton.

if he comes back to the PL and he wants us he won't expect the wages he would get elsewhere, if he wants the wages now, then he go for the team that offers it

Apparently we have 72 hours to match the offer.

With this in mind and knowing United, if they wanted Bale, they would get all the terms agreed with agents and then put an offer in with hours to go before the end of the transfer window.
Then spurs have only hours to react and get the deal done...not 72.

All hypothetical of course...;)

Why would Martial play ahead of Son? Son has significantly outperformed him for two years now.

Some people seriously underappreciate what we've got, instead just believing that the shiniest new toy is better by virtue of being the shiniest new toy. Martial would be a benchwarmer as it stands right now, unless he came in and had an excellent preseason.

Because Son is a bit like 'sex panther' fragrance - 40% of the time, he's unstoppable every time!

I reckon he’d take 11 as marketing etc.

If Lamela stayed then he could take 8 as pretty sure he had that at Roma? (Although would prefer a more engine room player had that but might be a bit of a piss take dropping him out of first 11 numbers).

If we went for Martial he could take 9 so would be less problems with that one! ??
