All the talk about how we have a clause that means we can match any accepted bid means f all. Like Real Madrid care if they sell to us. Don’t know why it’s even a thing

Apparently we have 72 hours to match the offer.

With this in mind and knowing United, if they wanted Bale, they would get all the terms agreed with agents and then put an offer in with hours to go before the end of the transfer window.
Then spurs have only hours to react and get the deal done...not 72.

All hypothetical of course...;)

If they'd got to the stage where they'd agreed the deal with everyone the timing wouldn't really matter much anyway. And I'm sure we wouldn't wait until the last few hours of the window before deciding if we really did want to bid on him.

Real madrid currently 2-0 up, Bale scoring the first. He's showing in recent games that when he's fit, he is a big player.Even though I highly doubt we are financially capable of bringing him back, he'd make a huge difference for us.

If anything, his recent performances have probably improved his chances of playing at RM next season. If he starts in the CL I very much doubt we would have any chance of signing him.

If anyone even doubted that then they’re delusional. Even if he was deemed not quite good enough for Madrid anymore he’s plenty good enough for us.

Can see Mourinho ditching Rashford and Martial and bringing him in, unfortunately.
I think that they are the only club desperate enough and with the finances to bring him in.

Another example in the cup final today of how having that one special player (hazard in this example) brings silverware. Even if over a 50 game season they don't play or perform every week. Best player on the pitch, martial was poor.
Please bring Gareth home & let the good times roll.

Daily Star saying £44m for him. Obviously based on nothing! But foe the dreamers more fuel!

If it is 44 million, Levy will sign him without even asking Poch.

This would be seriously exciting if, IF, we could get Bale back in a Spurs shirt. After today I do think the red side of Manchester will have their say however. Come on Daniel :)

Gareth Bale transfer news: Real Madrid star could be set for £44m Tottenham return
GARETH BALE looks set to pack his bags after the Champions League Final against Liverpool – win or lose.
Steve MillarPublished 20th May 2018

And, if reports in Spain are to be believed, the Real Madrid superstar is heading back to old club Tottenham with chairman Daniel Levy working on a £43.7million deal.
It will be a major boost for Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino if Levy can successfully negotiate a transfer with the hard-line Madrid men.
White Hart Lane legend Gary Lineker would applaud it, too, with the former Spurs hotshot fully convinced that Bale would return to the Premier League a better, more skilful player.

Lineker, who was a major hit in his three years at Barcelona, said: “It looks like he is set to leave Real Madrid but he has done terrifically well there and won pretty much everything.
“The rumours are that Madrid are looking to sell him and it will be interesting to see who jumps in for him because he has a massive amount of talent – if you can get him on the pitch.
“Unquestionably, going abroad has improved him. He was brilliant in his last couple of seasons at Tottenham and he is a wonderful footballer. It’s always good to get different experiences of different styles which he’ll have got by playing in La Liga.

Gareth Bale has won three Champions League titles at Real Madrid
“He will have learned so much, there’s no question about that. And he will be a better player for it.
“He’s certainly played well the last two or three games and scored a couple of great goals. Gareth’s only real problems are his lack of consistency in terms of playing time and the injuries he’s picked up in the last couple of years."
Bale is ready to return to the Premier League after five highly successful years in La Liga and hopes to mark his last appearance for Madrid with a fourth Champions League medal.
Real want £69.9m but given their determination to offload Bale, the deal could go through on Tottenham’s reduced fee.
The only major stumbling block would be his sky-high wages of £350,000 a week AFTER tax

Also, just 12 hours ago, they were reporting Bale was going to Utd to facilitate a move for Hazard.

if mourinho had half the brain people think he does they would ditch that idea keep martial and rashford, and find a creative outlet to utilize some of these players. After watching the FA cup final today it really showed they lack the creativity that someone like Eriksen brings for us.

Not saying they should go for Eriksen because they can fuck off before trying that idea.
