This would be seriously exciting if, IF, we could get Bale back in a Spurs shirt. After today I do think the red side of Manchester will have their say however. Come on Daniel :)

Gareth Bale transfer news: Real Madrid star could be set for £44m Tottenham return
GARETH BALE looks set to pack his bags after the Champions League Final against Liverpool – win or lose.
Steve MillarPublished 20th May 2018

And, if reports in Spain are to be believed, the Real Madrid superstar is heading back to old club Tottenham with chairman Daniel Levy working on a £43.7million deal.
It will be a major boost for Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino if Levy can successfully negotiate a transfer with the hard-line Madrid men.
White Hart Lane legend Gary Lineker would applaud it, too, with the former Spurs hotshot fully convinced that Bale would return to the Premier League a better, more skilful player.

Lineker, who was a major hit in his three years at Barcelona, said: “It looks like he is set to leave Real Madrid but he has done terrifically well there and won pretty much everything.
“The rumours are that Madrid are looking to sell him and it will be interesting to see who jumps in for him because he has a massive amount of talent – if you can get him on the pitch.
“Unquestionably, going abroad has improved him. He was brilliant in his last couple of seasons at Tottenham and he is a wonderful footballer. It’s always good to get different experiences of different styles which he’ll have got by playing in La Liga.

Gareth Bale has won three Champions League titles at Real Madrid
“He will have learned so much, there’s no question about that. And he will be a better player for it.
“He’s certainly played well the last two or three games and scored a couple of great goals. Gareth’s only real problems are his lack of consistency in terms of playing time and the injuries he’s picked up in the last couple of years."
Bale is ready to return to the Premier League after five highly successful years in La Liga and hopes to mark his last appearance for Madrid with a fourth Champions League medal.
Real want £69.9m but given their determination to offload Bale, the deal could go through on Tottenham’s reduced fee.
The only major stumbling block would be his sky-high wages of £350,000 a week AFTER tax

Not sure I’m reading this right : Real want to sell Bale, if he’s sold he wants to come to us, it’s financially possible and they are actively pushing him our way......

.... and we’re a bit meh about it?!

I know Poch said he had some “crazy ideas”, but I didn’t think it would be this crazy.

Do we want to go to the next fucking level or what?

The only possible reason I could see is injuries, but he’s still played plenty of matches and not had knee operations/persistent torn hamstrings etc.

Opportunities like this don’t come along often for us.

I'm not going to get bogged down in the financial musings regarding his potential signing.

Herc has said we can afford, that'll do me.

Just depends now on whether he wishes to leave RM, which at present seems he certainly won't be making it easy if they wish to push him out the door.

The impact a player with the experience and stature of Bale would have on and off the pitch would be priceless. If we have a chance at getting him we 100% should.

If we have the chance to get him whilst still being able to sign other targets in different position and we pass on it, it will imo be the daftest thing we’ve done since passing on Suarez because he was too similar to VDV.

This team is so obviously the right thing to do that there's no way it will happen.

I would love us to sign Bale. We need goals from the front three behind Harry and the right hand side is weak in this area

As good as this looks I do feel we are better with 3 at the back with the wing backs pushing forward more.

IF we can get wingbacks as good as Walker and last seasons edition of Rose i agree. If its Tripps and Davies then I'd rather go with more firepower upfront to compensate

I can't see why we wouldn't have him back. shirt sales would please Levy, Potch's options get a boost. Could we be playing the unwilling customer to drive his price down?
