We arent paying half his wage to any Spurs player now...Kane's new contract (if there is one) may touch 200k but thats it. Unless we start paying our own squad players market salary, sorry cannot see how we will get Bale.
There's a lot more to this than just meeting his wages. Have you considered the commercial impact Bale would have for Tottenham Hotspur PLC with it's ground naming rights, shirt sponsorship deals, additional TV coverage, shirt sales, etc etc. Think about all the other commercial advantages of having someone like him join the team. There was a great article in the Telegraph recently about the vast amount of money Bale generates for the club he plays for.

If Levy is really serious about this it will be because he knows he can meet the financials from having Bale back whilst improving the side too.

If we sign Bale this summer, I will spunk into a recorder and play Billie Jean on it.
I put a fiver on Bale joining us by September 2018 awhile back. If it comes off I'll put £20 into the SC coffers as long as you don't play Billie Jean on your spunked recorder

Why is thread still going on ? We will never match his current 300k a week salary. We may be ready spend big on a player but big transfer fee + 300k a week ? Not Happening ...

90% of the transfers we've got threads for won't happen. If you don't think it will happen then stay out of the thread.

Appreciate the offer but I’m a man of my word, so I must decline.

I'm assuming that's actually tricky.

Unless you mean at the same time ?

The only hard part will be remembering the notes imo

I do see the argument as why it could be a risk to sign Gareth, fitness, compatability with our style, wages, etc... but man would it be one hell of a statement. I can't think of a bigger one that we could make realistically.

You are talking about a player that was a massive star at this club already, who has won everything with Real Madrid multiple times and is still under 30. This is the kind of player that would bring extra belief to the players and fans, and put even more fear in the opposition.

Sounds like there's a fair bit of work to be done however. Plenty of luck and movement required.

Kane AND Bale walking out at the new stadium together, now that would be a dream scenario! Come home Gareth.

He's had his injury problems yet still hit 16 goals.

I do agree, a fit and firing Bale gives us a huge boost.

Another factor is the lack of sell on fee. When was the last time we sanctioned a deal worth tens of millions of pounds for a player approaching 30?

Dembele is our best midfielder and we’re going to let him go this summer rather than give him a new contract. He’s two years older than Bale.

I loved Bale when he was here I genuinely feel that he hasn’t reached those heights since he left. It just seems to go against everything we are as a club.

You should never go back, it’s never as good second time round.

I think I would rather spend the money on someone that is at the beginning of their career than the end.

This would be similar to when United signed van Persie. Is he injury-prone? Yes. Is it a risk? Yes. However, even if we only get one full season out of him, the pay-off could be huge.

Sir Alex knew that van Persie would push his team to the next level and give him the best chance of winning the league, even if it was only one. Bale would provide the same chance for us and Poch should grab at it if he gets the opportunity.

Think of the commercial significance of bringing in a player like Bale. You open the new stadium and you have England's best striker (Kane), a young rising English star (Alli) and then one of the biggest names in football (Bale) come strolling onto the pitch. People would fall over themselves to get endorsement deals.

Now, i don't think it will happen but it's hard to deny that a signing like Bale would be a big statement to the players and huge commercial opportunity for the club. I imagine that as far fetched as the idea of it happening may be that somewhere in the club, someone is crunching the numbers purely on a "what if?" basis.

Never thought this would happen - but realistically we need a winner and game changer in squad/team and there's no denying that Bale fits the bill.
Still not getting hopes up but ..........
