Neymar won`t go this summer would be embarrassing for PSG I do suspect Hazard could go there though.

I would think the same applies then. Any massive attacking transfer would see one of their attackers go and that would probably be Bale or benzema. Unless of course they offloaded ceballos, Isco to name two.

RM really need to sort out their defense. I wouldn't mind a deal Alderweireld going there and Bale coming here.

Welcome to take with a pinch of salt but only passing on in good faith. A friend of a friend spent time with Bale recently. It seems he is very unhappy in Madrid and with all the politics including those surrounding Ronaldo has fallen out of love with football. He wants to come home and only wants to come back to Spurs. Knows he will have to take a massive pay cut and is prepared to do so to start enjoying life again. Sounded like it would be more likely in the Summer than January. As said passed on in good faith.

(sorry did not see the other thread) as I posted before Dov
Just wanted to remind everyone of the post that started this thread. ;)

But at spurs he did all those things, I think madrid he is under instruction to barely track back. So it Ronaldo. I think the idea is, keep dangerous players in areas that they can be dangerous.

Absolute rubbish at being ineffective, statistically he is very effective. Where Bale's problem is in Madrid is he drifts in and out of game, and produces moments of magic in a game but rarely is constantly good throughout the game. Partly though this is down to the fact its a club that focuses on Ronaldo, Bale sees much less of the ball at Real than he did at Spurs, and is not allowed to drift and glide round the pitch like he was at Spurs.

But despite all this Bale has been a big success at Real Madrid, coinciding with a wildly successful period at Madrid and being out and out first choice for 4 years at Madrid, only this year has he been in out of the side. On top of that Bale actually is playing much better for Madrid than he did when first got there. This season statistically has been his most productive, and since 2015 he has been on great form, he's also been injured all the time which clouds people's judgment on him.

Now, he has been more of a success than the likes of Robben, James Rodriguez, Sneijder and Van Der Vaart for example, all players who flourished as soon as they left. Madrid suffocates talent, when Bale leaves he may become liberated.

The reason that there is a reason to be cautious is not the quality of his performances, which have been of a very high level, its his injuries, the cost transfer and the priorities of the team. The main thing though is we don't need Bale, we actually don't and we don't have a bottomless pit of cash. Are there better ways of spending that money?

I still think he would be worth it, but it is up to the management.

I’ve bolded all the bits I strongly disagree with. If you think he’s been effective for Madrid in the last couple of seasons then I can only come to the conclusion you haven’t watched many of the games live. The fact he’s been fully fit for months but can’t get into the team over some kids who replaced him suggests that Zidane has had enough too. It’s only been the last few weeks he’s returned to some kind of form.

i’d be amazed if this season was his best statistically like you say. Until the last few weeks he’s been so poor to average. If a player does fuck all for 89 minutes and scores a tap in every other game, then the stats may look decent but he’s not contributing like he should be in his position and he’s not playing like an £85m player.

I think you’re getting confused between being successful trophy wise, which he has been massively, and being successful playing/form wise, which he hasn’t at all. The last couple of years he’s been like Wes Brown/Jonny Evans at Utd - bang average players playing their part in a massively successful team. They’ll have shitloads of trophies to show off when they’re older but won’t be particularly fondly remembered by their fans.

It pains me to say all this because I love him but I agree he can flourish once he leaves. You can see when he plays for Wales he has a smile on his face and plays much better and more freely. It’s Madrid’s fault entirely but it’s true. He needs to show the world again that he’s one of the best players.

This is a great post and begs the question that Bale (who must himself realise the above) what is he doing this for?
If its just the money and perhaps a bit more basking in reflected glory, and not his love of the game, then he stays where he is....
If he believes in us, and our motto, To Dare is To Do, ...and will take less money ....but still and absolute fortune then he comes back to Spurs...
I honestly don't believe he would pick united over us, given a choice as it would be marginal to him in money terms, but in glory terms we have to be his preferred destination.
Bizarrely it has become a reverse Toby situation, Toby looking for money and glory, Bale could be looking to rediscover his love for the game.
maybe THAT is why he has had such a poor injury record recently, where niggles get magnified as he he aint that enthused!

It's such a unique opportunity really, arguably needing to leave to get his mojo back, he can go back to a club he had outgrown at the point he left, but has come on leaps and bounds since he left, on and off the pitch.

Come back to a place where he was loved, that is now getting regular top 3 finishes, has multiple team of the year players (including one of the best strikers in the world), CL football for next season wrapped up, ridiculously good training facilities and a state of the art new stadium. Leaving Madrid can't be great for a brand but surely this would still be a great move from a business sense also.

Really need to hope Madrid push him out, and the stuff about his wages being inflated massively by image rights is true!

So coming to us he would or wouldn't be chasing glory?

Coming to Spurs for the glory, over united...?

I'm not sure i follow...

So as part of the many things needing to fall into place, are we looking for Gareth to be left out/have a quiet game in the CL final or do we think RM are looking to ship him out for a younger, shiny new toy regardless of next weeks final?

I dont think scoring in finals means much to RM, otherwise they'd be more happy with him...

So he's going to come to us for less money, less trophies, worse weather and harder work? Smoke him a kipper, what a guy.

Personally feel Man U are in a bit of a mess, which I should weird given they finished 2nd, but Mourinho seems to be losing the plot and there does seem to be an untogetherness about the team.

We’re an exciting project and as long as we replace Dembele effectively this summer we should continue to push (I would say push the big boys but we’ve been top 3 last three seasons).

A player like Bale would allow us to make that next step and make our side very dangerous.

In the champions league in particular we’ve had games where Dele, Kane and Eriksen have had real stand-out games and then you remember back to when Bale was tearing up sides for us and think wow.

A game like Juventus when we played well but just needed someone to score for us and Bale would have given us that something extra.

Honestly it's unreal how signing Gareth Bale is a negative in some form to anyone. Imagine him with Kane and Eriksen. That's without the other attacking threat that plays there with them in regards Alli, Son, Lucas etc.... makes so much space and the fear in opposing defences when he is either running at them or shooting. Unreal and his signing a lone says huge things in what were gonna be fighting for next season.
