He's nearly 29, got a history of injury and Zidane ain't a fan by all accounts. I completely disagree: I think we'd be a fantastic option.
Id imagine Chelsea and Utd would be frontrunners if he were to come back, and if his eye is firmly on winning trophies in England, we're not really top of the list are we?
And that's before you even look at what he could earn elsewhere.

Im not against us signing him, would be great, but just feel its ridiculously unlikely, all things considered, i'd love to be wrong though.

I would guess that it’s always been a long shot, but not completely off the radar. Hence this may be Levy’s kind of deal, imagine the kudos he’d get going in to the new stadium and re-signing Bale?! He knows this too, it would be mega for the club and for him personally. His defining moment no doubt.

I've got a feeling that if we got Bale he'd take a pay cut but have a big chunk of his merchandising, in which case Baldy wouldn't be nearly as excited about it.

I get what you're saying but he has frequently said that he'd rather come back to Spurs than anywhere else. That's from the horse's mouth. :)

I wonder if @Trix is hearing it's not on the cards because he wants to stay (ties in with other ITK) or because he's nailed on for Utd or City. Hopefully its the former!

Love that we have ITK on a player of his stature, but I'd much rather we focus on our attention on a similar caliber player that:
- plays CM
- demands less wages
- is much younger than 29
- less injury prone
- hasn't already left us for big money.

If Bale falls on our lap on the cheap a la VDV at the end of the window then I'm all for it. If this is our big signing then it just feels a bit... West Hammy.

"West Hammy" do question some opinions on here.

Defoe and Sherringham didn't do to bad on their returns either:whistle:

Bale would be coming back to us a better player, he left us to win things, he succeeded and hopefully he will get us over the line.

the only thing that does worry me though is his last season he would collect the ball and shoot on site. yes it will be great v bus parkers creating the extra space, and scoring an absolute screamer, but what effect would it have on Kane?

the season before his last, before he was given his free role, he would murder sides down the left, and produce goals for himself, or assist. his last season with us he had more goals, but less assist, and kind of made Adebayor look useless, yet the season before they looked a lethal partnership.

To be fair though he didn’t have a decent striker to pass to back in them days! ???

Hopefully Trix's info is either wrong, or his contact simply hasn't heard anything because, understandably, if Levy has even the slightest chance of making this happen, he knows he has to keep this as schtum as possible to avoid any repetition of the Willian outcome.

Yours sincerely

well when he played with Adebayor the season before they both had a good partnership, but Adebayors chances went down seriously the season AvB gave Bale the free role

The only way that would annoy me is if we had every chance of signing Bale, but chose not to in favour of the younger player with more potential and future re sale value.

In reality though I’m not even so sure Bale is going to leave Mardrid and it’s still a bit of a pipe dream.

Martial is a good player and Poch could probably coax more out of him than Mourinho. Would still be a decent signing, but I think some are overstating his impact.

After watching an interview with a French journalist on why Martial was left out I am not so keen on him. He basically said Martial did not train 100% and appeared disinterested when he joined up with the group. Dechamps questioned Martial mental strength and desire..

Sounds like a depressed man who needs a change of scenery, perhaps Deschamps, the slimy fucker, ought to consider his words better.

It does feel like I'm on acid here - not sure anyone actually realises Bale isn't the only top level player that exists.

I think 9/10s of Man U squad feel like that under Mourinho. Lukaku, Mata, Sanchez, Pogba to name a few. Basically any flair attacking footballers he destroys them.

Nobody, and I literally mean nobody has stated that Bale is the only top level player that exists. Quite the opposite, in fact.

What people have said, and are absolutely right to do so, in my opinion, is that Bale is (realistically) the one massive name/brand/signing that we have not only a realistic chance of signing (if we really want to) , but also the one massive name/brand/signing that would actually want to move to THFC, rather than just look for the big bucks at City, United, Chavs etc etc.

And unlike the other top level players that exist, Bale already has not only an affiliation with the club & supporters, he has an affection for them. Do not underestimate how important that 'could' be if we do enter any race for his signature.

Mind you would love him back here but even if Madrid sell him he would join one of he Manchester clubs over us.Don't get why everyone's convinced he would return to us as it would be a major step back in his career.
Anywhere after rm is a big step back. Its all about what he wants. I think he needs what he had at spurs back plus dont underestimate where we r and what he believes he can add.
