I've never understood the relationship between big clubs and astronomical wages.

You'd have thought shit teams would have to pay more to compensate for that. I mean, let's say I was a pro and played for Burnley. If I was on £30k, and Madrid came knocking, I just don't know how you'd have the leverage to say you wanted £100k plus.

Depends on the terms of his contract and the sale. And fortunately for Bale, your not his agent or Lawyer.

So you're saying there's a scenario whereby we want him but won't pay more than 150k (which we wont), Bale doesn't want to take a pay cut from his 600k, and in their utter desperation to sell him to us, not United or anyone else, Real are willing to fork out 450k per week, more than they're paying anyone other than Ronaldo, to make the deal go through?

Sorry, it's been my mission today to end this nonsense lunacy wankfest.

Hold on fella. Just because a few different people have had a differing opinion about a player to what you have, and can see positives you personally can't, why is their opinion dismissed as nonsense, lunacy and labelled as a wankfest?

This is a forum, right? It's for people to post and share opinions and thoughts, right? And if all those opinions and thoughts were exactly the same, this would be one pretty fucking shit forum, right? Nobody has attempted to dismiss or belittle your opinion, or proclaimed you a virgin because you've been all on your lonesome whilst us nonsense filled lunatics frollocked around in our homoerotic Bale fuelled wankfest.

No need.

Generally you don't, which is why there are so many at Real who are on comparatively low wages. Ronaldo and Bale were exceptions, because their agents knew how desperate Real were to make the deal go through hence the world record fees.

Well, just as it's entirely within your rights to have your opinions on why Bales gonna return contrary to all evidence, likewise it's entirely within my rights to call those opinions out for the nonsense lunacy wankfest they are. The beauty of free speech.

And as for virgin, who says it's my first wankfest?

Yeh people keep saying this but nobody can point me to an instance of where it's actually happened.

Chimbonda i believe took a wage cut to join us. Robbie keanes contract renewal was for less as leeeds no longer paid part of his contract.

@Hans Gruber I didnt say they were desperate to sell him to us, I just gave a scenario where he could take less than he is earning currently, to go elsewhere.

If he is sold against his wishes, dependant on the terms of the contract, he would be entitled for some/all to be paid.

SO he wouldn't need to be paid the same or more than his current deal by his new club.

However I do agree that the likelihood is remote to say the least, I just wanted to keep this wankfest going, as you so nicely put it.

But madrid would be in competition for your services with utd and all the other big clubs. They have to make their offer to you the most attractive.

It's what United and City seem to do.

Bale has been bumped up to that sum through new contacts too, so it seems to still be valid.

Remember Mark Hughes' QPR, and what the Dagenham lot are like - that is more my expectation.

Unfortunately I think I'm resigned to this wankfest continuing in some form or another until Bale hangs up his boots.

Re the first para, it's possible but it's incredibly unlikely, and would require Real to be desperate to him to come to us in particular, as if they were willing to subsidise his wages they would first go to United and say "Hey dudes, fancy Gareth for 350k on a cut price deal" and go from there. Bale would have no say in the club as he's already sitting on his contract.

Bale's first contract with Real was for 300k.

City have had to do it because until very recently they're not a big name, and so players like Robinho had to be enticed with money rather than the lure of playing for the club. And once the wages are high across the board it's harder to get them down.

United still do bring in people on low wages. It depends on how much leverage the player has. Martial is on 60k for example.

QPR had to pay high wages because there was no way in fuck anyone was going there for the fun of it or to further their career.

we in austria say "reheated only goulash tastes better" - it's not easy to translate that

Agree ... that's a good point, but i think if he's injury free he would still be one of the best offensive players in the PL
Mmmmm goulash ?

Come on HANS, chill and join the Bale love in because...

You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope one day you'll join us, and the Bale world will be as one.

If Madrid really came knocking - you are worth more than £100K/week....

I think you are forgetting Real own his image rights, and his salary is inflated because of this. IF he came back, he owns his image rights, hence our ability to pay him a less wage. And any deal he did with us would be incentive based. Perform and get top coin. What he is on now is really a mute point. And yes I would fucking love him back! (y)

we have had ITK saying we are his 1st choice if he decides to come back, surely he knows he won't be on mega bucks. I mean didn't he play for us once upon a time?

what?

could the world record fees possibly be cuz they are world class players?

That's exactly my point. When they moved they were undeniably amongst the best 4 or 5 players in the world, they knew it, the clubs knew it, their agents knew it, and if anyone had any doubts it was soon to be revealed in the amount Madrid were willing to pay to get them. This gave the players a lot of leverage over their wages.

For guys like Ozil or Isco, yeh Madrid wanted them but there wasn't nearly as much hype or urgency, so Madrid knew they could offer lower wages and they'd be snapped up.

So Hans
This was the original post in this thread as I feel you probably have not read it, forgotten it, disagree with it, or finally just dont comprehend it....

Meanwhile I read yesterday, that according to some of the bookies, including Skybet (we are now the most likely destination for GB IF he leaves RM)

I personally do not think he will end up here, much as I would like to see him here

There is a huge clue in the "Welcome to take with a pinch of salt but only passing on in good faith"

from EBSpurs on COYS
not a WUM

Welcome to take with a pinch of salt but only passing on in good faith. A friend of a friend spent time with Bale recently. It seems he is very unhappy in Madrid and with all the politics including those surrounding Ronaldo has fallen out of love with football. He wants to come home and only wants to come back to Spurs. Knows he will have to take a massive pay cut and is prepared to do so to start enjoying life again. Sounded like it would be more likely in the Summer than January. As said passed on in good faith.

If this thread is your mission, Hans you need to get out more,
As long as other people are entited to their opinions, they can believe the world is flat as far as im concerned. Who cares?
This is a fantastic spurs site, IMHO the best on the net, please don,t ruin it for everyone else, I have no problem with the content or opinions you express in them, it just the quantity! I dont like to put anyone on ignore or give negative ratings...
If you really want to go on a mission, do something to change the world, go where you may do some good, help people, cure cancer
Lighten up dude, I'm sure your talents are wasted here.
