But they seem to buy with no clear plan. They make the most sense on one hand but also a bad fit on the other.
True. But money speaks and United are still a huge draw. They always sign top players.

I just simply think it's United. I can't see him at City personally and United with Mourinho doesn't look greatly appealing but watch what players they bring in this summer regardless of that.

I think people underestimate just how big a club Man Utd are.

To be fair, I think since fergie, they have never really gotten going and their prestige/reputation has taken a hit. They aren’t playing attacking football and take fantastic players and on many cases make them average.

Would he want to play under Jose ?

Gareth - Come back to Spurs where you will be truly appreciated !! The trouble with where you are is that those bandwagon jumping fans and that global brand that is loosely called a football club get so much that they take it for granted !! Your achievements there will quickly be forgotten by them and come next season if you are still there, they will probably still treat you like a bit part player and get on your case. You've earned the money and won the cups with them, now come back to where you are loved, and help us win silverware and you will truly get hero status.

I think this whole “Poch doesn’t want him” thing has to be twisted. There is no way Poch wouldn’t want a world class player. I’d think it’s more likely that he thinks our priorities should be elsewhere because the signing is so unlikely.

We have just as good a team as those Manc bastards, our manager isn't a self-involved twat and oh Bale loved the club and the fans when he was here. So unless United decide they want to spend 100m+, I don't see how we're not a realistic best option unless Levy cannot finagle the wages to suit Bale.

The only way we're not his top option is if a club pushes the transfer fee to such a level that we're not capable of matching or they offer half a million a week wages.

That is an incredible goal!

Can only dream of seeing him back in a Spurs shirt.

Right this has got to be my last post in this thread. Must move on, can’t stay in Never Never Land.

I just hope all the latest ITK is wrong and we rally are in talks with Bale. Watching his impact tonight shows he is still an extraordinary talent but also that he wants to play regularly. He wanted trophies and now he has for a houseful ... He commanded high wages and now he can probably buy half the countries in the world ... Maybe now he wants to maximise the football years he has left and help Wales achieve more. OK I must have eaten some weird mushrooms at dinner

Yea, I think Poch likely thought the stars wouldn't align and so was trying to downplay expectations which came off as not wanting Bale.

Bayern don't pay that more wages than we do. Lewandowski is their top earner on £160k a week. Really doubt they'd go for bale.

Also, going by recent ITK, the language barrier has been a constant issue fore Bale since his move, he's become a loner. If true, I doubt he'd want to go another county with a different language barrier & start all over again?

The boy KNOWS he can talk fluent Spurs ;)

Bale even gets pushed to the back and out of sight when they lift the trophy!

Surely Levy is doing the sums on this. What a statement signing Bale would be. For potential stadium sponsors it a massive bonus. Get around the wages problem with a fat signing on fee. Our only chance of signing a world class player and bringing a winner into the dressing room. If it can be done they should get it done.

That goal will probably be my favourite non-Spurs (and England) goal forever.

An absolute worldy, in the CL final, by a former Spurs great, against Liverpool who have been especially annoying towards us this season. GLORIOUS.

Sadly him coming back is an absolute pipe dream, but that interview after the game was intriguing.

Coming here and winning something would be a perfect way to end a great career though.

Can’t disagree with that, but I don’t think it makes a difference to how big a club they are.
