But they seem to buy with no clear plan. They make the most sense on one hand but also a bad fit on the other.

Oh yeah I know, but even with that thinking it doesn't really lessen the chance of getting certain players. The lure of playing for Manchester United is still great and in most cases, money talks.

Didn't an ITK on here say Bale doesn't want to leave and 24 hours later Bale is practically issuing a come and get me plea on live TV.

It doesn't sound like he wants to stay whatsoever. I mean if Bale was happy it's a pretty easy response for him to say 'i love it here and have no plans to leave'. To me it sounds like he wants to return to the PL.

Maybe that ITK info was off. Can't see Poch not wanting a player like Bale either. Every manager in world football would want him.

Probably clutching at straws but I hope maybe ITKs have been given a bum steer as we are keeping it under wraps but we do actually want him.

Bale could leave Madrid on a proper high after tonight. Would be a perfect time to leave Madrid.

Ronaldo has basically said the same thing. Likely just Madrid politics. Probably just wants a new deal and reassurance that he'll be a key player again next season.

That said you never know. Would have been so easy for him to bat the question away.

That goal will probably be my favourite non-Spurs (and England) goal forever.

An absolute worldy, in the CL final, by a former Spurs great, against Liverpool who have been especially annoying towards us this season. GLORIOUS.

Sadly him coming back is an absolute pipe dream, but that interview after the game was intriguing.

Coming here and winning something would be a perfect way to end a great career though.

That goal is the new Nayim from the halfway line.

I really don't think the money argument washes any more. Bale is stupidly rich now. He can go wherever his heart takes him. Let's hope it still beats for Spurs.

If it's United... :grumpy:

I wonder if Giggs is using his influence? It's not like his Wales' place is likely to be in jeopardy, but wasn't Giggs Bale's idol growing up? I can't imagine he's doing anything other than selling United to Bale - and wasn't Bale a big favourite of Mourinho's, or am I getting mixed up there?

The scenes if he came back... I don't think any Spurs fan can truly be realistic about this. Of course it's unlikely, of course United have the bigger global stature, of course a move to Germany probably makes more sense... But the performance today just shows what we could have, with the ability to score at any time. 10 opposition players behind the ball? Bale just scores a worldie...

It's likely to be a moot point anyway, as i'm sure Bale would end up either staying at Madrid (though that doesn't look that probable with his words tonight), or he signs for Utd. However, I wonder if having his image rights released back to him would offset the wage loss for signing for us - I don't know if it would play a part, as i'm not sure how image rights work, and what sort of money is involved, but worth a thought nonetheless..

So Bale obviously not happy.
Even though he scored the winner tonight i got a feeling he wont get the confirmation that he seeks from RM that he will be their star man coming season.
So he leaves.
Man u, psg, chelsea or us.

For a brief moment i can picture first home game at the new stadium. Bale, Kane, Dele up front.

Just to confirm: Bale has never played under Mourinho.

Until the window slams shut, or he signes for someone else (or a new contract at Real), I'll hold out hope. We've had contradicting ITK on Bale, so all we can do is wait and see.

So what if he's prone to injury prone, that only makes it easier to give everyone enough game time. The way he played tonight, he'll earn us lots of points just by playing half of the matches.

The thing is he can leave now having nothing left to prove. In Madrid he will always be remembered for that final and he can't really do much more than that. Had he not been such a major part of it he would have more motivation to stay.

I don't think he will get that reassurance though. They want players like Asensio and Isco to shape madrid in the future. I think Bale is out. I jut really hope he comes here or PSG or something. I will always have a great love for Gareth wherever he goes, but I'd hate to see him in another teams shirt.

Come win us the league Gareth.

Can only hope Poch has a change of heart. I love the man but I can see him subornly preferring to bring in younger talents to develop, Martial or Zaha types.
Shame if true, Bale is obviously hurt by not starting tonight, wish we could go in strong now & make him feel loved & wanted, then you never know.
