I dare say Madrid will still sell him, and Man U could well end up with one of the most famous British players of all time.
But we saw the best of him.

After watching tonight I do t think we have any chance of signing him. He's pretty much opened the door and given Madrid an ultimatum of play me or I go.

It's a lovely thought but he won't be coming back to us.

Rather it be city than Utd though.

Journo on twitter just posted the below on Bale's comments in a post match interview.

'He sidestepped mention of Spurs in a question just now'

They played this on SSN not that long ago. Was a long question, but mentioned our buy back option specifically. Kept a straight face and kinda had a smile on his face when answering, but just reiterated he needs to play.

I'm no expert in body language so don't have any useful analysis however.

If he's leaving he's coming back to England. It's only Utd ahead of us. City won't want him and I really can't see him going to Chelsea in Europa. The only hope we have is if Utd didn't want him which forced Bale to accept lower wage. Can't see any reason why they wouldn't want him though.

There's a potential painful summer approaching of us selling Toby to Utd, them refusing to sell us Martial and then signing Bale.
If Martial is willing to sign for us, then that should be a condition of us dealing with them for Toby.

errrrr. Didn’t he just go back over £100 million after tonight? Think he’s just gunning for more guaranteed play time.

They can have Toby if they leave us a clear run to sign Bale.

We don't have a buy back clause. We might be able to match any bid but the price that madrid are prepared to sell will be set by madrid. That price went up tonight.
Do we actually know what's in the contract? That's a genuine question, I'm not being facetious.

Forget it. This was always a fanciful notion, but I can't see their champions league hero, who scored a worldy, leaving now.

No way he leaves after that, and even if he did his price just went through the roof...

If he wants out and they are okay selling him then his price is dictated by how much a club bids. He's only coming back to England so it depends if any English club bids for him or bids enough for Madrid to accept.

IIRC we have a contractual right to be notified of any bid by another club and the opportunity to match said bid. I don't know if this only applies to bids that are accepted by Real.

The contract of the sale to Real was leaked a while ago and iirc it contained mention of us being notified of any accepted bid which we would obviously then be able to match if we wanted.
