Nice to remember Bale's own words back in 2013:

“The fans have been unbelievable with me,” Bale said. “They’ve supported me through the bad times and believed in me and I’ll never forget the great European nights at White Hart Lane. They were amazing.
“Tottenham will always have a place in my heart. I hope the fans still love me even though I’ve moved on. I hope they understand that obviously Real Madrid is a massive, massive club and that they respect my decision.
“From the moment Real Madrid put the offer in it was obviously difficult. [Tottenham] was somewhere I felt so comfortable and so happy - it was difficult to leave but when Real Madrid come in it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“I love all the Tottenham fans and hopefully one day, you never know, I could be back.”

Yeah but Ben Davies will be worried about his LB role and Danny Rose will probably still have to Google him ;)

I don’t think he’ll come back. He loves it in Madrid. Besides, why would they sell him when he can do that?

It's not that people don't want him back, it's how it affects our ability to strengthen other more pressing areas considering how much he'd cost.
That’s the biggest issue for me Trix. We do have other areas of priority and as good as Bale is we have a limited amount of money to plug those gaps.

It’s gotta be a very tough decision for the hierarchy. I honestly don’t see how we can make this work

Okay, now here's the big question how much is Gareth Bale worth and how much should we be willing to pay?

Judging how much a player is worth is tricky because Neymar is never worth £200m but then, of course, he is because someone was willing to pay it.

The prices being quoted of around £50m for our other targets Martial/Pulisic/Sessegnon/de Ligt even Zaha could be as much as £80m, one thing all these targets have over Bale is age and potential to increase in value, whereas Bale will not but he is the finished article, if anything his powers will only diminish.

Which is why, as much as I would love a Bale return I personally would not go above £65m-£70m* for him and that sadly prices us out of the market for him, possibly

The only way we get Bale is if he forces a move to us and if they want him gone. If CR7 leaves for Yanited, does that mean he'll still be surplus to requirements, what if they are looking at Neymar? How much will it take to get PSG to sell, more than £200m? What does that do to an already inflated market?

*Mental that Zaha has been quoted as being worth £80m and I personally wouldn't pay more than £70m for Bale but then I wouldn't personally pay £80m for Zaha

But what happens at CM and CB with Dembele and Toby leaving? £70 mil+ plus huge wages on Bale leaves very little left for quality in other positions.

Give Winks and Onomah their chances in midfield, maybe even drop Dele deeper. Continue to use Sanchez, Foyth and Jan at the back.

If Bale were our only signing, I’d be happy enough, and i would certainly feel we were strong enough to challenge for the title.

We’re ok at CB really even if Toby leaves we have Jan, Sanchez, Dier with Foyth and CCV coming through. More than happy with that. Still not convinced Dembele is leaving but if he does then we’ll definitely need another CM. Still think we can do that.

I may be wrong (certainly not unusual) but I thought Daniel always said he has a special fund aside from the kitty for if that special person becomes available and the stars align ?

I'm certain I have heard him say that on more than 1 occasion guess that could have just been pr bullshit though as that special somebody has never materialised as yet haha.

If he is available and wants to come back this is a once in a life time chance for Levy to transform the team into real contenders by raising the finances to buy him and the others Poch wants and up their contracts,Uncle Joe has the funds to make us a ten year loan which could easily be repaid over the next ten years.
Dont fuck this up Levy by hiding behind lack of finance because if he goes to another English club when he could have come here and makes them champions the fans will never forgive you.

Does not seem like Zidane is bothered about keeping him listening to his press conference. I think we have to get Bale to also prevent Man Utd and Chelsea getting him which would put them out of sight compared to us in my view.

Lewis is already making a massive investment in the new stadium. Tavistock were revealed as one of the funders in levy's letter to khan.
