Was kinda hoping the Utd link might not come to fruition after the Independent article said they are unsure if Utd will firm up their interest. This would tie in with Ed Woodward publicly saying they have no further interest in Bale after signing Sanchez.
Even if he goes to Utd, he'd only be changing one form of unhappiness for another.

Martial is nowhere near the player Bale is now, not even 5yrs ago.. I’m not sure he will ever be Bale good. Am I against signing Martial? No. Would I prefer Bale if it’s even at all possible? Yes. Would I take Martial if Man Utd sign Bale for silly money? Yes. Hahaha

As an attacker right now it must be a bizarre feeling signing for Utd. You get the big money, trophies and role at one of the biggest clubs in world but you know that Jose is going to destroy the beauty in your game. You go there knowing you aren't going to be performing at the level you know you're capable of. It must be painful, frustrating as well as really positive too for the other reasons.

Even midfielders- look at Pogba largely flattering to deceive week in, week out

If he indeed is going to UTD, it could be the
Worst decision he could make. Sanchez, Pogba, Lukaku all are shadows of what they should be. Watch him play defensive midfield then get ripped a new one by Jose in the press ala Pogba.

I’m not sure about that. I actually think playing on the break as they do might suit him.

I honestly do not see bales next move as being about money. I think and hope that he has been so disrespected at madrid that his next move is about getting back what we gave him (love and massive respect) is what this down to earth lad wants. I know its not how football works but gareth has never been about money in my opinion. He is about ambition. Yes we are not a sure thing to win things but he sees what we see..a new era ...a new stadium ...a club on the up. A great manager. I totally believe we can get gareth if we want him properly. To sum up ...its all about what his priority is...so relax sit back and watch.

I can't believe people are comparing Martial to Bale. One is the finished product while the other is a player with tremendous levels of potential. Martial is 22 while Bale is 29...

Martial when at Monaco was one of the brightest prospects in Europe, Mbappe levels of potential.

Mourinho stifles talent, just ask Salah and De Bruyne.

If we can't sign Bale due to financial demands, Martial is more than a worthwhile 2nd choice.

Another thing to point out is that I'm fed up of hearing this romanticism towards Bale. This whole idea of 'he was born to play for Spurs' is a load of fucking bollocks.

The bloke claimed to have a injury and went AWOL in the Summer leading up to the Madrid move. Some of our fans really are fickle and shortsighted.

Funny how somebody like Toby who is prepared to stay at the club providing he's paid what he wants gets more criticism than Bale who forced through a move by refusing to train.

Mate one was about ambition and the other is about money. Just my opinion

Could be that Utd have already put in a bid and we decided to waver our first option because Poch would prefer Martial who would be cheaper overall.

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. If Bale's going to United, I don't see why he'd have made the comments he made on tv last night which were clearly a "come and get me". I doubt it would have all been wrapped by United since then.

Very good points. And we've only got 5 pages to go until 100 :woot:

Why have I even been dreaming of this happening! - absolutely no chance this window, out of our league price wise.
Think Pulisic is our top target, he ticks a lot of boxes especially from a marketing point of view.

Bale and Jose does not a good relationship make.

I also don’t know how on earth a deal to UTD would already be complete so soon. I’m not pooping on the ITK, but would be seriously surprised if they were already that far along in terms of negotiations.

For what it’s worth... I think he will remain at Madrid for one more season.
