So many straws being clutched.

Bale isn't coming back, if him going to United means Martial is free then I would be happy with that.

Martial is 22 and has his best years ahead of him, Bale is winding down.

Yeah he looks well past it .

Weaker areas! I don’t think it’s particularly weak compared to a lot of teams but compared to our options in forward areas I think it’s weaker. Sanchez and Especially Vertonghen are very good, after that I’m not as convinced. Dier for me is too slow on the turn and ball watches, he lets players get behind him to often. Foyth I like the look of but he’s still very green and CCV will not make it at this level in my opinion of course. Towards the end of the season we were getting cut open more and more culminating in the Newcastle and Leicester games where they got behind us far to much. part was due to our midfield who couldn’t look after the ball or close down space but our CBs got exposed especially without Vertonghen against Leicester. If you think we’re strong at CB why are you talking about funds for a new one?

The thing is people always get more excited by attacking signings but I’m personally of the belief that if you sort out the defence and midfield youll have a better chance to build a winning side.

De Ligt would make us a better side than Martial would

attack is the best form of defence :)

And if he’s sacked, I would very much doubt a new manager wouldn’t want Bale there.... unless Zidane became the new manager :D.

Besides, I think Bale’s situation at Madrid is unique. Madrid are unlike any other club really. There is so much politics involved.

More of the pantomime drama that would be happening around the club if he’s sacked, not a great atomosphere if you want to play football with all that rubbish going on.

And yes I meant that prick Mourinho!

If Bale arrives at the new stadium next year in a United top, give him hell.

If any of our fans give him some sort of heroic reception, I'll go ballistic.

I can understand and live with this ,it was always a bit of a pipe a dream, as long as he doesn't appear back in the PL playing for someone else.

Gareth Bale transfer: Tottenham could beat Manchester United to reunion with Real Madrid star willing to take pay cut

The 28-year-old will discuss his future this week and would be willing to make compromises on financial demands if a deal could be struck to bring him back to north London

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring developments with Gareth Bale and may yet launch an audacious bid to bring the star back to the club this summer, with the 28-year-old’s representatives set to meet with Real Madrid to sort his future out this week.

Bale followed his match-winning substitute appearance in the Champions League final with the announcement that he would have to consider his future if he would not be a starter in future, and his agent Jonathan Barnett is set to sit down with the Bernabeu hierarchy over the next few days.

His exit is by no means certain since Bale is a personal favourite of president Florentino Perez, even if manager Zinedine Zidane is not so warm to him, and the situation is further complicated by Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

The Portuguese also cast doubt on whether he would stay at the club for next season, and the bottom line is that one of the two leaving would make it far easier for the other.

The link between Manchester United and Bale has long existed, with the player now said to see Old Trafford as a preferred destination.

They would also be better placed to match the forward’s current wages, but that is precisely why United are now cool on the player, especially at his age and at this point of his career as well as after signing Alexis Sanchez.

Sources close to Bale say he would also be very open to a return to Spurs, and would be willing to make compromises on financial demands if a deal could be structured.

With manager Mauricio Pochettino having urged the club to make statements in the market this summer, those close to the hierarchy say Tottenham would be willing to offer a deal similar to Harry Kane’s, of around £200,000 a week with bonuses.

Sources say that Spanish tax means Bale only gets £200,000 in hand at Real Madrid, but that other commercial deals related to being at the club take him up to way over £500,000.

Reads 100% truthful to me :)
