You mean last season when that cantankerous bastard won them the title? Yeah, what a **** that Conte is. Or were you talking about this year when he won them the FA Cup? Off with his head I say. Sure hope Poch never 'provokes' DL like that. You know, by all that winning stuff.
But seriously, by all accounts he was promised players and not got them. I am sure his recruitment would not have been successful if they told him they would bring in Danny f*cking Drinkwater. Do you? Managers are chopped and changed at Chelsea at the Russian's whim, Conte is no different. The only change here is that Roman has gotten tight with the payoffs. What Conte plans to do after fulfilling his contract is immaterial as long as he fulfills his contract.
You can see it how you like but if this equates to greed on Conte's behalf then you are probably in a minority camp. And it is because of this camp that contracts are indeed necessary because if everyone behaved appropriately we wouldn't need contracts. Conte is fulfilling his contract and deserving of his payment.
In a competitive business environment, be it banking or professional sports, senior leaders are judged by their perfomance and how much profit they make for the organisation. That's the nature of so-called free market capitalism.
By those measures, Conte failed miserably last season, and succeeded in losing the confidence of his staff (players) too. As a Spurs fan, I'm delighted, just as I'm amused that he's screwing the crook Abramovich into the bargain.
Back in the real world, I've been a member of a trades union (and occasional rep) all my working life, and have frequently fought to ensure ordinary employees are not fucked over by employers and get some sort of recompense when bosses try to bend the rules.
In this case, Conte's behaviour throughout last season suggested that he wanted out. He was not the leader he was paid millions of pounds to be, inspiring his team. Instead, he was a miserable, distant, figure perpetually moaning. His team underperformed massively by failing to secure CL football, and he underperformed massively.
I've led teams in incredibly difficult situations, and I've always strived to be positive, supportive and rise to challenges. Whilst being paid a fraction of what Conte earns.
Indeed, his behaviour suggests he was trying to provoke chavski to sack him.
Unlike many people who lose their jobs, Conte could walk straight into another top job. If he did so, he would suffer no financial detriment, as he would doubtless negotiate a similarly lucrative contract. But he would leave the organisation he led in a complete mess due to his mismanagement.
I've seen good people of integrity fired precisely because their bosses could not bully or manipulate them into behaving unethically. Some of those people got only a month's pay, around £2,000, but still stuck to their principles and behaved with honour.
Conte has fucked chavski, and wants to have a year's siesta with another £9 million of their cash.
So yeah, I think he's being greedy.
