haven seen him play for so long. feels so heavy when i see him run nowadays. seems to have lost that agility he used to have

he still has the change of gear when the time is needed, with better upper body strength and pretty decent in the air

Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen have ankles like jelly, but I imagine most would be happy if they signed new long term contracts with us.

We are not going to be crippling ourselves financially. If we did a deal ( which I very much doubt) then it will be because we can afford it, whether Bale was fit for 38 games or 8.
Right, but it will still cost an enormous amount and we don't have a limitless budget. So it's a choice. I would rather we chose to spend it on younger superstars in the making.

Maybe we can do that next year.

Good for Bale. If RM were stupid enough to offer the contract, then I don’t blame him one iota.

They will be bastards to him though until they force him out.

whatever happens with Bale, RM will not get away with this scott free. if they give him away on a free they will have to pay off his contract, which theoretically Bale would have the wages paid for those 3 years already. even Bale is not that greedy to be expected to be paid the same amount each week again, and whatever he was paid eg.... Kanes wages it would then work out at 850 + bonuses and I'm sure Levy to do the deal 3yrs contract, would allow him his sponsors money.

if RM loan him the only team that could cut their cost down would be Man U by accepting to pay him ½ his wages which I doubt Levy would, but depends on whether Bale would want to go there now.

Bale has all the eggs in his basket, and it's up to RM on how desperate they are to get rid.

they won't be able to:

sell him as no one will pay 70+m for a player approaching 30 and then pay 650k per week

they won't be able to loan him without subsidising at least ½ his wages

they won't be able to give him away for free, without paying either his whole contract, or pretty close to it.

or just leave him to train with the reserves, let him play golf and keep paying him his money.

As I said in another post on here, if Bale moves this summer he will know whatever he will still receive his wages he is on now 1 way or another, and he also knows that when he is 33, no one will even consider a wage over 200k to sign him

Then maybe Bale was one of our prime targets... Which he should be because he's a fucking unbelievable player who would immediately elevate our team.

I'm sure Man Utd thought Alexis Sanchez was an unbelievable player who would elevate their team as well. I suppose my main concern in all of this is that they will try to snaffle Christian Eriksen as part of any deal. We've never come out on the right end of any deal with RM IMO.

Bale won’t have any real bearing on the Eriksen situation- Christian holds all the cards there.

I'd just like to raise the point again that if we sign Bale we will certainly miss out on another priority target. Could be Ndombele, LoCelso, Grealish or any of the others. Not sure I'm a big fan of that in all honesty as I'm more interested in securing players for the next 4 or 5 years and I'm not at all sure Bale has that left.

the reason your post could be completely wrong is, NO ONE OTHER THAN LEVY AND THE BOARD, knows exactly how much we will spend. not you, nor me, nor Doris the tea Lady

he won't cost us an enormous amount, if he comes to us, he will still cost RM more each week. if he comes to us we won't be paying 650k a week. he will be on or a bit more than what Kane is on, and if on loan it will be a possible 2years at 10m. no different to buying a 20m player and paying him 100k per week

they won't be trying to do a deal for Eriksen in this. they will either buy Eriksen on Levy's terms this summer, or Eriksen will leave on a free next season. if we get Bale, Eriksen might even decide to stay as he might see the club being ambitious and that RM are in a little bit of a mess at the moment

That doris is a sneaky cow lighty never underestimate the power of the sneaky :ninja:

I know, I bet she's a hypnotist in her spare time, and puts Levy in a trance at the end of the day and then passes the info to all our ITK's

Whatever Bale does this weekend he sure ain't going to make any decision or drop any hints to Real Madrid yet.

Why not? He holds all the cards.
In which case he won't play them, he can hold them and work the situation to his best advantage.
Perhaps I should have said he sure ain't going to go public on any preferences he may have.

What would it take for us to agree a deal for him?
Guessing:
1. Madrid releases him from his contract (which has 3 years to run)
2. He signs a 3 year deal with us
3. His 600K per week is largely subsidized by Madrid (perhaps 375K per week from them)
4. We pay him less per week than Kane (no one will be paid more than him) so that's around 150K
5. Bale takes a 75k per week discount
6. Odds - not bloomin likely

Wonder if Bale could have his time back whether he would have stayed at Spurs as for all the trophies and crucial moments he’s contributed to be shown such little love by fans or club must hurt

That said we wouldn’t have signed Vlad Chiriches if we hadn’t sold him so it all worked out in the end

Anyone remember the dealio with image rightsu thought you got paid more in Spain but Madrid take a chunk of your image income. Whereas in the UK you keep it all.

If I've not made this up, could help with the weekly wage.

no way - he proved himself at Madrid, 4 CL's a host of other titles and accolades....scored winning goals in multiple CL finals and set his family up (if he invests well) for generations
