Reminds me of 30 years ago backpacking in Thailand and waking up in my beach hut in Koh Samui in the early hours with a rat in my bed, and it was a whopper as well. Luckily I didn't have a bird with me that night! .
Rats are real hard core, and will think nothing of eating their own dead, starting with the brain.
