Seems like there is likely to be a mass exodus from Sporting this summer with the shit show going on over there. Wonder who else we may be looking at over there. I remember there were press linkings with Bruno Fernandes but he's more of an attacking midfielder type. They have a bunch of prospects but not sure who would really help us in the meantime.

Yeah they missed the Champions League on the last day of the season, and yesterday a group of fans stormed into the training ground and attacked some of the players.

Bad Dost was photographed with cuts on his head.

Would love to get Gelson Martins if we can. Great alternative to Zaha.

I'm strongly on the side of we bring in an absolute top attacking midfielder/winger or just leave it alone. I'm far more interested if Sporting has any midfield prospects or fullbacks. I know Piccini flirts with being on the Italian national team but don't know think we really need to touch RB and I think their LB is Coentrao from Real Madrid. Mostly if Bruno Fernandes can play CM or if we would have any interest in William Carvalho.

If you want a full back from that league the best ones play for F.C. Porto. Ricardo Pereira and Alex Telles.

The best player at Sporting is Bruno Fernandes. He’s more of an Eriksen-style player though.

I personally wouldn’t take any other players from Sporting.

Yeah, I knew Porto had the better ones. I don't follow the Portuguese league much at all but am generally aware of who some of the brightest players are. I need someone smarter than me to tell me if Fernandes can play a deeper role.

I don’t think he’d be a great CM.

I really don't think he is what we need right now.

I watched him today in the Portuguese Cup final. Lots of trickery, powerful runs but it almost always came to nothing and that's because his ability in the final third is pretty average.

Wasted two one on ones because his shooting is awful, his crosses always failed to reach their target - despite being offered the space and time. To make matters worse he got caught dwelling on the ball that ended with Aves getting their second.

He may develop into a world class player but at this moment in time I fail to see it. I've watched him for Portugal and several times for Sporting and we'd be much better spending the quoted 40-50m on Zaha or just bring Bale back. We haven't the time and patience to bring in a player like this right now, there's too much work to do and I'd expect us to be signing a player who can get double figures and be a huge impact immediately. It isn't Martins I'm afraid.

Surprised pool aren't in for him, suit klopps all pace style.
Think we're ok now we have lucas and son, don't need pace just for the sake of it

BREAKING: William Carvalho, Rui Patricio, Gelson Martins and Bruno Fernandes have all terminated their contracts at Sporting CP.

Not sure how reliable the source is and if true.

Portuguese press have linked us to him again today.

It is true that Sporting's big players are all looking to have their contracts terminated, with Thursday this week being the deadline.

The club is imploding.

Never seen him play personally, but it would be unfair to judge based on this year's Portuguese Cup Final, given the circumstances which surrounded it.

They mean to terminate their contract. They argue that Sporting have broken the contract clause guaranteeing their personal safety.
Obviously a court would have to grant that request, but you'd think they have a strong case...

Makes it even more bizarre when they made fun of Wet Spam's attempt to sign Carvalho last year.

They rejected Rui Patricio's £18m(I think?) move to Wolves a couple of weeks ago, pulling out of negotiations at the last minute, and now it looks like he could be moving there for free.

Absolute twats.

Herc has mentioned before about being creative with our budget. If we can get him for free, when we've wanted him before at £40m+, and we can then invest that money elsewhere, then why not? I like pulisic, but if it's a choice between pulisic and a average CM, or Martin's and a great CM, I know which one I'd pick.

Very true. All up to Poch if he think that he can make Martins even more threatening in the last third. After all, aren't Zaha and Martins very similar players?

Zaha can play as a striker I guess. No idea if Martins can.

Feel for normal Sporting club fans. To lose CL spot, see their ultra group bashing star striker and now seeing all other key players leaving on a free...
