Wouldn’t swap Toby, Jan, Dier or Sanchez for him. Would maybe consider Foyth, but even then he looks like he could easily be “da shit”

Southampton should be able to sign three very good players for that money. It's a great bit of business for them.

In their current state I don't think they will be able to sign 'very good players'
I agree, but they'll be able to get three players as good as Van Dijk, who himself is hardly a very good player.

Irrelevant, he was superb and we should have bought him from Celtic

Ever heard of Wanyama?

It's not irrelevant, the SPL is a shite league in terms of quality, being superb in that league doesn't mean you're a superb player when it's come to comparisons to to superb players in any of the top European leagues.

There's no guarantee that being good in the spl that you will be good in a tougher league. Some players make it but most dont.

But my point was more van dijk has only had one good PL season and he's been bought for 75m, which to me doesn't make sense.

Where will this stop? £75m for VVD is insane lets face it, regardless of tv deals etc.

What baffles me is that City broke the world record for a defender twice last season, and now Liverpool haven't just broken that record, they've smashed it - by £23 million!!

It's utter desperation from Liverpool. They can't win the league, so to spend that much on him now is madness.

We're clearly missing a trick here. We need to start buying up Southampton players to flog them on for profit.

They're obviously that worried that 4th place is that tight that they feel the need to spend ridiculous amounts in hope 4th is where they finish
