And yet, despite them being so awful and having apparently fallen so far, they're still 6th, and only 5 points behind us. They're significantly improving which suggests they'll be a very serious challenge to us this season.

Sorry but how are arsenal significantly improving?

Aubameyang will become their new best player, is probably as good as Sanchez, and Sanchez has been shit ever since he decided he wanted to leave, his loss currently is relative to his performances, which have been poor. Mkhitaryan is a quality player.

Aubameyang alone is an incredible signing for them - he's far too good for them to be honest. Amazed he's even willing to go there. They're significantly upgrading their squad with two top players and cash for one uninterested wantaway.

I think you're over rating the impact of Aubameyang personally, no doubt he's a good player but he's a problem child with discipline issues, Arsenal bringing him into an environment where the manager really doesn't have any control of his players I can only see that ending one way, they're simply swapping one problem child with another.

Also Sanchez played on the left and Auba is a striker unless they're planning to play him on the left I can't see how it benefits them, or if they play him as striker and leave Lacazette out but that's not going to do much for his confidence.

Although Mkhitarayian is a good player he hasn't really convinced me in this league yet, hasn't been anywhere as consistent as De Bruyne, Silva, Eriksen or even Coutinho, certainly capable of playing to a high level but not constantly for me.

It screams square pegs in round holes more than anything.

Aubameyang dropped from the Dortmund squad to play tomorrow.

he was suspended on Jan 14th for missing a team meeting....

Borussia Dortmund have suspended and plan to fine striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for disciplinary reasons after the club's 0-0 home draw with Wolfsburg on Sunday, sporting director Michael Zorc confirmed.

Aubameyang, 28, has scored 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, but was absent when the teams were announced for their home game against Wolfsburg on Sunday as the German league restarted after the winter break.

Dortmund tweeted the news but did not explain what had happened initially, though Bild reported that he had missed a team briefing after Saturday's training session.

However, coach Peter Stoger confirmed the report, saying: "It was an important meeting. If he does not want to be part of that, another player will be get his chance. He briefly said that he forgot it, but we all know that's not the case."

And Zorc further explained the decision to omit Aubameyang to reporters after the match.

"Yesterday, after the team training, the team had a joint meal and afterwards an important team briefing that did not only concern today's match but also more general aspects, like our common goals and a code of conduct -- and he failed to appear."

Lacazette was supposed to be the missing piece of the puzzle last summer... That's worked out well.
Mhikitwhatshisface is a makeweight in the Sanchez deal. In all likelihood, it's not a move he actually desires, so you would have to question his commitment should the deal go through.

Get your point, but if you're going to frame Sanchez in the context of no longer caring, then surely PEA's signing has to have the caveat that he has got himself forced out through poor behaviour that is massively detrimental to team spirit, despite his talent - just like the guy who is leaving - and plays the exact same position as someone they paid £50m for. Given Wenger has already let Sanchez make the club all about him, that sounds kinda risky.

Likewise Mkhitaryan has struggled in England (putting it kindly) so far, so the idea he goes back to his Dortmund days straight away just by leaving Mourinho's 'care' for Wenger is definitely debatable. He also seems to be getting worse and less trusted in his second season.

Of course together they might work very well, but I'm not sure for a club of Arsenal's fragile mental state that signing a nutter and a makeweight who has struggled in the Premier League so far is a clear cut upgrade on Sanchez.

What's going on with Chelsea this window? As we all know, i'm never going to do the leg work, but are they teetering on the home-grown player rule or something? First Carrol and now Crouch, there has to be a reason they're looking at veteran English players, unless Conte is off in the summer and he's taking a sly dig at the owner by stocking the club with old players on short, expensive contracts.

If either go there, I hope they make sure the wages are worth it and milk every penny.

Its strange. If Conte is leaving in the summer then why not just play batshuayi, why worry about getting in another striker. Even a short term one.

I remember reading about Abramovic new staff member, in charge of the purse strings. A woman whose name I can' remember. But she was meant to be trying to bring more value to the transfer issue saying the massive spending wasn' sustainable. Which is rich, (pun intended) considering his billions, like the other big spenders are what has pushed the transfer market into a frenzy. I'll.see if i can find the article.

Might have something to do with their current approach?

People writing Arsenal off never learn. Don't get me wrong, i'd love them to fall into pre poch spurs like midtable obscurity. But Arsene Wenger is canny and wily. They'll be breathing down our necks until the end of the season in my opinion. Probably fall short but you can't write them off completely.

We will beat them then they will go on an unbeaten run until the end of the season. It happens every year!

I wrote them off for a top four finish last season quite early in fact.

I'm Probably still hung up on old bias. Cant shake the old skool mentality and inferiority complex...!

Throughout the years Arsenal haven't been doing anything much different, start well and look like world beaters, Feb/Mar time they can't handle the pressure and lose their shit only to go on a run around April when the pressure is off, the difference is that nowadays we are made of sterner stuff to keep them at bay despite the Newcastle match where we physically and mentally had nothing left in the tank we are better placed mentally to close the season out.

No they won't. Arsenal are a fucking dumpster fire. Get the very Spursy inferiority complex out of your head. We do that crap to ourselves. Arsenal have nothing to do with it. Half our fan base repeats this crap like it's a freaking mantra and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
