Liverpool look like they're just going to be an even more extreme version of what they were last season - trying to outscore everyone with a completely inability to defend, meaning the moment they come up against a compact team capable of defending properly which doesn't allow them to get round behind them, they'll come unstuck.

Plus European football and the ACON.

I'm not worried about Liverpool. I think they'll potentially get a striking start but then have a very difficult middle period and lose any chance of really challenging by the end of January.
Yep. Klopp will try to out fire everyone again. I expect them to come bolting out of the blocks but once the games pile up they'll struggle with fatigue and managing each game.

Expect a title parade to be arranged mid-December.

wonder if Pool are doing what we did with Bale? Buy Salah, perhaps back in for Virgil is the best part of a 100 million and then turn around and flog Coutinho to Barca for 90-100

Next season. Coutinho hasn't yet proven himself as ready to play for a Barca/Real yet, he's still far too inconsistent and not mature enough. But if he has a good season this year playing deeper behind a Salah-Firmino-Mane front three then I could see him attracting that level of interest.

I think Liverpool have to be considered a genuine contender for the title next season. Their record with Mane in the side last season was insane. Think they'd have finished on 95 points if his PPG was averaged out in the games he missed. Now obviously he could always get injured again but with Salah they've now got another player who will offer the pace in attack. He is a decent signing for them and we should remember that he tore us a new one with both Basel and Fiorentina in the Europa League.

The point is - they've now got options and are starting to get serious depth, meaning the extra cup games should be more manageable. There's a good chance that Sturridge, Origi, Lallana, Can and Wijnaldum may all be reserves next season which is a scary thought.

Needless to say they need to improve their defence before they can think about winning the league, but if they do that then they'll be very realistic contenders. At this point in time I think that them, United and City will be stronger than last season, Chelsea will be weaker, but it's hard to say with us and Arsenal.

Think that Pools forward group next season looks good (assuming a 4-2-3-1):

Firmino (Ings/Sturridge)
Lallana (Origi) Coutinho (Wijnaldum) Mane (Salha)

Midfield still needs a boost: Can Henderson (need another DM)
And CD still needs a boost
And GK, LB needed

But they are getting there

They play with a 4-3-3.

Attacking wise sure they could be pretty devastating. None of that matters much when they have a crap goalie and a bloody terrible defense. If they get that sorted then we can talk about title challenges, if not they will be looking at top 4 at best.

Well they certainly wanted VVD and theve just spent 40 million

I'd have been happy for them to get VVD as imho he is hugely overrated and would not have sorted their defensive problems. Now they arent going to get him the danger is they might fluke themselves a really good defender.

Ugh. If he signs I'm sure he'll do very well.

This one seemed destined for awhile, especially after the world record bid bollocks regarding Mbappe.

Typical. Turns out not qualifying for the CL was exactly the kick start Arsenal needed!

Fingers crossed it comes to nothing. Would be a disaster if he signed for them..

Seems like it would make them much stronger if they keep their squad intact....

But I still think Sanchez is going to leave. Hell, Ozil looked like he was busier practising his French/Spansh in advance of a move than playing for Arse for about 3/4 of last season so i am not sure he sticks around barring an eye-watering contract.

Also have to keep in mind Arse's ability to ensure their signings are always hurt, so Lacazette may be healthy and productive for a month before that tradition kicks in...
