Mbappe offered 140k to stay at Monaco. Tax free! I know where I'd stay. Earning 140k a week and living in Monaco, I reckon I could deal with that life
I believe Monaco's agreement with French League to stay as a tax haven was annulled in 2015 meaning that, at the time, if they wanted to continue to participate In the league all their players would have to play the same 75% as the others. the tax has changed now but not sure to what. It was one of the things that ended their excessive spending and made them look towards youth.

75%, that is absolutely insane.

Yeah the French super tax was insane, I think it didn't last very long at all, but I think it's still very high. Melenchone, one of the candedits for the recent election wanted to have a 100% tax on anyone earning over 400k. Obviously he didn't win but still.

Apparently Mario Ballotelli has agreed to terms with Nice for a new contract and is taking a paycut that's more in line with Nice's finances in order to stay at the Allianz Riviera.

Good choice IMO. He needs stability to get his career fully back on track and he had a good year with Nice. So him staying put and not being thrown around Euope by Raiola is probably for the best.

Chelsea getting £20 million for Ake and £40 million for Matic. How the hell do they get such good fees for their players?

Do people here not rate Matic? He's a very good player, imo.

Bakayoko is overrated from what I've seen. Wanyama >>
He's decent but he's not as good as some make out. He was awful in Mourinho's last season, absolutely all over the place. Alongside Kante he looked better but surely Matic is a defensive player himself?

He is a Mourinho type player though, pretty limited with ability but pretty good at obeying instructions. Supposedly Mourinho made Dier his primary target, we've told them where to go, so next on the list - Matic. By Mourinho's admission we've already got the better player.

Matic is good for the role he plays, nothing special and turning 29 before next season starts, Bakayoko has looked good from what i've seen of him and still young with lots of room for development.

I'm a big fan of Matic personally. He's like a bigger, better passing/shooting version of Dier but he'll be 30 soon and they'll have a younger cheaper version to replace him. Have seen good performances from Bakayoko (and a horrible one in the first leg against Juventus) so it'll be interesting to see how he does

Yeah, I didn't realise Matic was as close to 30 as he is. I thought he was about 24 for some reason.

Thought he was younger too. He was brilliant when he first arrived but I think he's been inconsistent the last two years.

Buying Matic for £40m makes no sense when they had Schneiderlin on their books yet never played him.

As for City, things seem to have gone quiet. Good for us re Walker, but wasn't Mendy 'imminent' just hours after Bernardo Silva joined?
