They're a big PL team. If the likes of West Ham, Everton, Stoke etc can blow £50 mill plus net in a transfer window, I don't see why Liverpool can't stretch to a £100 net without having to sell their best player.
Agreed, just strange they're doing it now after not have acting like this for so long. I mean the crop they brought in after Suarez and Sterling were pretty terrible.

Whatever they've done, they've done it well. Their recruitment is spot on now and has been for a couple of years.

Liverpool are expected to get €80m+ from their CL run alone, nevermind money from everything else.

Are they overpaying for transfers? I’d say yes.
I think the pertinent question is, are they getting their #1 targets for fees they feel they can afford? Yes.

Not even sure they’ve over paid this summer if you look at the market. They probably did on vvd in the winter though.

They top the league in agent fee spending. Personally I think spending £1 on agents fees is overspending. But again, probably something they see as affordable and worthwhile to get who they want and when they want.

Part of football you’ve gotta deal with agents whether it’s signing players or getting new contract for them personally think their should be a max percentage an agent could be paid but that’s another debate.

Liverpool quite frankly just don't seem to be messing about with regards to who they want and need. They understand the current climate and know know they have to spend big but in doing so they're seemingly leaving very little room for error too with respect to their targets being capable.

They suddenly found themselves in a fantastic position in terms of squad level and ability, primarily with the addition of Salah but in conjunction with the likes of Mane and Firmino as well as what seems to be the perfect manager for them and they're not wanting to rest on that at all, they realise they can build a team of really high quality with the platform already well set.

I have to say fair play to them, they could have easily had just a couple of additions and tried to replicate a season similar to last season but instead they seem to be really pushing to reach an even higher level.

We don't have the finances they do unfortunately and we've just built a new stadium but I do wish we could build on our platform of Kane, Eriksen, Dele, Vertonghen etc. in such a way that they have. I hope it's not too late by the time we can.

The only thing I will say against it is that now it puts huge pressure on them to achieve. No way should Klopp be getting off scott free of they don't achieve something. There should be no excuses now, although their fans will certainly have them ready should they not.

I agree, but it's pressure that one would welcome. Would rather be in that position, than to have a lesser team with less pressure.

On the plus side Chelsea don't seem to be the threat they were. Really thought they would get involved to strengthen themselves & upset a rival in the process.
Liverpool were always going to buy a keeper, really should have done so 12 months ago.

Didn't Klopp say he didn't want to spend big money on transfers and they wanted to be a different sort of club? Nice to see him keep to that policy.
Jurgen Klopp (2016):

"Other clubs can spend big money on top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money."

January 2018:

Spends world record fee on a Centre Back

July 2018:

Spends world record fee on a GK

So in 2 years he’s realised that to be the best you have to buy the best available. All that matters is that are they a better team with them players?

Little worried?
Maybe, but it's still a bit open as to how good Allison is. That is an unknown.

We certainly know that spending £60m+ on a keeper is a shit or bust move by them - still not sure how they're breaking even unless someone's leaving

It is admirable that Liverpool actually back their manager tbf. Addressing the weaknesses he has identified, and paying the going rate for the talent at their level. With the amount they’ve spent, they should push for the title this year - if they don’t, it’s another season of failure for them.

Come on, it’s not a leap in the dark, he was the best keeper in Italy last year and is keeping Edison out of the Brazil team. From what I’ve seen of him, he’s better than Lloris.

Alisson, Robertson, VVD, Keita, Fabinho, Shaquiri, (Fekir ??).

I’m not one to get excited about signings generally, including other peoples, I really didn’t think Mané, Salah or VVD would be the roaring successes they have been, and I’m not blown away by Shaquiri, but - If - they get Fekir, I think that’s one of the best 12 months of recruiting I’ve ever seen from anyone.

Fazio, Falque, Chiriches, Taraabt.... All crap in the PL but good in Series A

..even Wotsit Sneezy looked good for Roma.

He didn't stand out in the WC and is unproven in the PL, so your excitement is massively premature.

I read that Liverpool pulled out of the Fekir deal, it was the Mirror though so...

Not sure how Goalkeeper can look in one league but not the other?, you either are good or you aren't. If Alisson was the best keeper in Italy and if he's being picked over one of the best keepers in the league for the national team then he must have something about him.
