It was only 3 days since Dier (whole game) and OC had ambled around Hampden like a pair of farts in trances. And they'd also come off the back of long pl seasons, as opposed to Onomah and Cook who were fresh as daisy's and would still be full of adrenaline from winning the wc. And like I said, he could have just given them a second half?

Like training with them would have made much difference with that shower of shite, probably would have been a blessing not to.

I have no idea why Livermore was called up ahead of Tom Carroll, a player Southgate often picked for the u21's.

If you look at the midfield players France had for that game compared to England, it's fucking scary.

Deschamps picked some good young players for the friendly but is getting deserved criticism too for other games, he's making some terrible choices (and did at the Euros imo). Leaving out Kanté, playing Pogba as a dm in a cm2, picking Sissoko over the likes of Dembele etc
Dier and OC didn't have to travel on a 13 hour flight and have to deal with a 9 hour time difference. Also, there is no way Onomah and Cook deserve a call up over Davies, Carroll and Barkley.

Only if we only use PL performance as a criteria, I accept that as a general rule of thumb, but it shouldn't be absolute and in this case why not consider them as a reward for their international achievement and experience of international tournament football - the time constraints aside (which I appreciate probably make my suggestion difficult).

If Everton do get Sandro at the £5.2m release clause that will be a good bit of business

Very good. Strange one, as seemingly no competition and bargain price. Excellent value in the current market. Keep thinking 'what's the catch?!'

Demarai Gray with a decent goal for England (slight deflection) in the final group game at the Euro U21s.

This is the first good start by England in this tournament.

Is this England team the oldest U21 team in history? Very quick bit of maths and I have the average age at 22!!!!

If you take the first 135 mins we've played at this tournament, I'd say we would have a very slim chance of progressing.

Looking at the second 135 mins, you could make an argument that we have a decent chance of beating a fairly average (by their standards) German team.

Germany could select the exact side (maybe minus one) that beat us not too long ago 1-0. There isn't a massive gap between the teams, and England have improved as the tournament has gone on.

Although I have little faith in Boothroyd's capabilities. So quite torn on this one! 2-1 England at 5/1 looks quite tempting.

Decent start from England. Should be a few goals up. Gray with another goal.

The German U21 GK Julian Pollersbeck has been very impressive so far. Hamburg snapped him up earlier this week. Looks a prospect.

2-2. A terrific header or should Holgate do better? Bit of both I think.

Fascinating game, this.

England tiring and Germany having more quality right now.

As I type ... goal, but offside! Germany dominating totally. Not sure that was the right call either.

Really poor from England in that last 20 mins or so. Need to find some energy!
