New Zealand were 1 nil up against Paraguay. They have now equalised luckily. If that stays the same we now just have to wait on Group E's results tonight

i'm conflicted as i want to see more of edwards but at the same time this team is poor and the players around him(and coach) are bringing him down so he might be better off just coming home and pushing his way into the u21s.

Think he revels in these tournaments. I think it would probably be better for him and especially Sterling to stay in it. Does their profile and confidence good. They've got all season to play in u21s and as you know there are barely any u21 games this season. Without checking they could probably make it to the final and only have missed 1 or 2 max.

Also like you say it's an opportunity to see him play more. Though I'm not as confident a most likely weakened Russia and Costa Rica will get the results we/I want compared to a weakened France

England u16s lost against Japan 4-3

I assume they lined up. Not 100% sure about some of the players in defence.

Squad for games against Germany

Goalkeepers
Jared Thompson (Chelsea), Ryan Sandford (Millwall)

Defenders
Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea), Japhet Tanganga (Tottenham Hotspur), Edward Francis (Manchester City), Tolaji Bola (Arsenal), Jaden Brown (Tottenham Hotspur), Jordan Williams (Huddersfield), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea)

Midfielders
Marcus Agyei-Tabi (Arsenal), Callum Slattery (Southampton), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Andre Dozzell (Ipswich Town), Dennis Adeniran (Fulham)

Forwards
Reiss Nelson (Arsenal), Samuel Shashoua (Tottenham Hotspur), Martell Taylor-Crossdale (Chelsea), Niall Ennis (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Jonathan Leko (West Bromwich Albion), Mackenzie Heaney (Newcastle United)

Odd that Diallo and Bennetts miss the squad. Good to see MTC, Tanganga and Slattery back from injury. Notice Nuefville is missing, so I assume Brown is the no.1 LB now unless he is injured. There is stregnth all over the pitch really is impressive will be interesting to see how these guys get on.

Anyone seen Agyei-Tabi from Arsenal who's just been selected apparently he played well at the Euros for ROI

I don't know about Diallo but generally they don't go for more than 3 players per academy for each age group

England u16s drew against Holland 2-2 today. This if from the Dutch footie site

Thanks to a late goal by Maurice Kone the Dutch national team for players under 16 years Thursday at the Val de Marne tournament held over a point in the match against England 2-2. Orange, however, had a hard time against the team of the English trainer Dan Micciche. "A point was the maximum possible", said KNVB coach Edwin Petersen.

Under 16's coach was full of praise for the English team. "England actually has a top team. In this age group, I have rarely seen a team that was so good. The players were individually very good, technically proficient and physically very strong. Although we have had a few chances, we were talking with particularly difficult time for rest. We really had to get used to the level. "

The guy sounds like they were overawed by our teams. Apparently we conceded late goals in both games. It's funny sa this is more evidence bar the 98 age group, that we are producing top class players. Even the coach has admitted it, this will most likely continue to u19s yet you can bet after that the Dutch will get chances in Eredevise, while ours won't get PL chances. And then those same Dutch players will be bought by the PL clubs as their development as continues whereas ours will stagnate adn end up in Championship smh.

English academies are doing an amazing job right now and I hope it bears fruit, if just half of these players got chances in the PL the league and England would be in great shape.

This is the team against Holland. http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail...-pose-before-the-tournoi-news-photo/494836888

They don't like to get too many players from one academy

I thought you meant that but I'm not so sure. I think they don't like too many players from a club, whether that's right or wrong anyway but I don't know what their limit is. I don't think it''s the reason Diallo missed out as there is only one other City player while we have 3 in the squad. Also at u16s we have 4 and u18s we have 3 also.

I don't think there is a fixed limit but normally it is always around 3 at most from one club. In the U16's and below I always found them to be lazy

Apparently they only called up Bennetts because Germany called him up

I don't really understand all the rules about what country a player can play for in all situations.

For example, Cameron Carter-Vickers. I think his mum is English and his dad is American, but he was raised most of his recent life in the UK. He's been playing for the USA national youth teams (not sure at how many levels).

Could he potentially switch over to the England team and if so, at what point is that option out of the question? When he plays for the senior USA team?

I don't think I've ever heard anything say that he would play for England though (unfortunately).

He is as american as Apple Pie(which isn't american)

He spent all of his life in England, spent all his time playing for an english academy and has no connection to america bar that his dad is american.

However I think he got scouted by Klinsmann when he came to our training ground and learned about his background.

As for why he hasn't played for england, I don't know and many of us bewildered however his age group is one of the most talented age groups england has ever had and did win the Euro U17's(only the second time)

Whether he can play for England, he can't play for some of England's youth teams like the U17's(too old), U18(too old) and U20. He is potentially unavailable for the U21's since he played in the qualifiers for the olympic U23 qualifiers HOWEVER I don't think FIFA recognise olympics as a full competition. So he is arguably still eligible especially when you consider the timelines and rules of U23's are different to the U21's

Adam Armstrong has scored 10 goals in 12 games, 2 of those games came where at RW. He is playing up front as the lone striker despite only being 5ft 8in according to the internet(he isn't big in real life but I think he has always appeared smaller than he is because there are some tall players in that age group)

Being 5ft 8in in league 1 and scoring ten goals is quite remarkable

England lost 3-0 today against France. Apparently, the coach has not impressed and his tactics and subs have left a lot to be desired. I've heard good praise of Skipp from a couple of the games.

Sancho got player of the tournament. They definitely need some gelling

new zealand beat paraguay so england are out. oh well, got what they deserved.
NZ got further than England??? That is appalling!! Anyone know if there is a rule that you can only play in 1 age group of a World Cup in a year? Just wondering as Yahaya would have been eligible for Nigeria but didn't get in the squad and was wondering if it was due to him playing in the U20 WC?

I'm not certain but I think a player can switch as long as he isn't capped for the full national team. Grealish has to wait for some form of paperwork to be approved.

As for CCV from what he says in interviews he enjoys playing for the USA and will probably continue.

this is for 98s and younger, yahaya is 97 - he would've been eligible if he'd been born two weeks later.
