Ok Edwards was struggling to make any impact but Sterling too? Can only assume he was worried about him scoring a goal!

Who is this dinosaur commentator? 1-0 down so get two big men up front and lump it forward?

Don't get me wrong Edwards was struggling to get into the game, but so has Willock and Ugbo, the difference is Edwards has still be one of England's best players and only needs a second to create magic. Sterling has been England's best and liveliest player this half. What poor subs

Edwards in this match was Englands Main man, he was the guy they were constantly looking for and unfortunately Brazil knew this and would press him hard. It was good learning curve for him and he will benefit from it in the long run

I think he was harshly done by the ref as well

Not sure England have anyone smart enough to unlock this Brazilian defence. Think they'll add at least one more before the final whistle.

England's subs have been awful. Edwards, Sterling and Willock were the most likely to create or score a goal and they've all been hooked. The ref's had a stinker, but if England lose the blame will lie squarely with the coach.

Suffice to say Brazil were generally a yard faster, stronger and smarter than our boys.

First time I've seen Edwards and can see he needs to be playing with more intelligent players than were on show tonight. The game by passed him too much but the fact that he never received quick ball and the fact the Brazilians were quick to swarm him didn't help. He'll have better days I'm sure.

Sterling looked much better through the middle and was unlucky not to convert one of his chances in the 2nd half. He at least seemed to show more intelligence and anticipation than any of his team mates.

Whiteman, I keep reading good things about him so I'll give him the benefits of my doubts. Definitely needs to work on his kicking and to bulk up a bit.

edwards could do with a touch more pace over medium-long distance, he's very quick over the initial 10-15 yards but after that players begin to catch up with him. when he's high up the pitch it's a non-issue but when breaking from deep it might hold him back a bit. kane imo is noticeably quicker now than he was at edwards' age so it can be done.

Agree, because he's small I think he needs that extra bit of pace just to break away from those bigger and stronger defenders. Then that would add an extra dimension to his game

I agree but I don't think this is normally highlighted that much during games, I think it looked a lot worse than it did due to their LB or DM being so fast. The guy was rapid in clawing back Edwards

yeah they did seem quick. to me edwards has messi acceleration but david silva pace so he may just have to settle for being somewhere between the two as it stands :p

I said similar. Over 10 years he is quick enough he has a good change of pace to initially get away from someone close to goal, but if he was to start running from the half way line he will be caught. I think everyone remembers that same specific moment. What he needs to learn to do, as Messi isn't rapid, and to be fair I think he tried but misjudged it, is just get his body in the way and force them to trip him or leave him alone.

Highlights from the u17s Euro qualifiers. This group has strength all over the pitch. So many players that could be added. I really like the CM options, so much better than the age group above plus they have strength on both sides of the wings so are better than above. Strikers are probably better also.

Let's see how they got on. The fact SK have already qualified and rest players like Lee Seung Woo should help. Assume we will see Edwards and Sterling come on towards the end of the match. Glad to see Humphreys in the side though.

Willock really needs to start showing his class. Seems like they have been tied down by England's fear of failiure culture
