willock lacks a brain

That's what I saw when I compare him and Edwards. Willock like a lot of English youngsters can dribble past people, Edwards can too but what Edwards has noone else does is a footballing brain. To pick a lock. He is outstanding in that respect

This group haven't improved as a team or changed at all since the Nike Friendlies in 2013 when they got pumped by USA. Always look so uninspiring playing insipid football. Just has a few standouts but no team. Edwards has been their only real shining light, it's no surprise to see this age group struggle like this.

We'd be far better off getting a young, technically and tactically astute foreign coach for our youth teams than letting dinosaurs like that guy loose on our kids.

I'm sure there's English coaches out there who would be good enough but I suspect their faces don't fit or they haven't got a mate in the England set up to get them a job.

Would be great if Rodgers tried his hand, or Warburton but they wouldn't want to step down. Without being ageist it says a lot that most of England's coaches all look over 60. The current England players are great technically all play great in academies come to England and gave dinosaurs in charge still.

there's a decent chance england could still actually go through on 2 points.

3rd place from group a and group d have already qualified. so that leaves c, e and f (england are b). in group c australia(1 point) play argentina(0 points) and you'd probably expect argentina to win so that would see them qualify leaving one place, a draw would see england qualify ahead of australia. group e south africa(1 point) play russia(4 points) and north korea(1 point) play costa rica(4 points), as long as neither south africa or north korea win then we'd qualify ahead of them. lastly in group f, syria(1 point) play france(6 points), highly unlikely syria get a point let alone the win they'd need to qualify ahead of england and new zealand(1 point) play paraguay(4 points), again nz would need to win to finish ahead of england due to goal difference.

having said all of that though, england don't deserve to go through and would likely lose to whoever they face in the next round anyway. i'd rather see edwards and sterling back with spurs playing u21s.

edit: a draw for south africa would see them qualify ahead of england on goals scored so we're going to need russia to beat them.

Tbf we were unlucky against Brazil it was never a free kick, we need to get the ball to Edwards more he looks dangerous and da silva needs more listen cue to bomb forward. There are a few good players sterling has shown signs maybe if we qulify players will feel less pressured and go and enjoy themselves.

Like BLAKE I am ever the optimist. I now comment on the last day of matches in the group stage and as far as I can work out 4 third placed teams out of 6 will qualify for the last 16 knock out stage. Amazingly Australia beat Argentina 2-1 (If you think England are doing badly well Argentina have played 3 lost 3 for 1 against 8!) and this result means that 3 third place teams have better records than England. So England have to hope the last 2 groups E & G do not produce better third place finishes. So what needs to happen! Russian beat South Africa (good chance), Costa Rica beat North Korea (good chance), Paraquay beat New Zealand (good chance) and lastly France beat Syria (excellent chance). If I was a betting man its not impossible. Needless to say if this happens England then will of course go on to win the tournament with Mavididi scoring a hat trick in the final. Help me I medical attention!

As @mancman mentioned in the u21s thread, the u16s are playing in a tournament in France starting Tuesday against Japan they will also play Netherlands and France. The squad was announced about a month ago. This will be the third time this talented group would has met up together. So far it has never been full strength and even this time it won't be full strength The first time they met up they missed the City players (TOB also wasn't there) and the 2nd time the Spurs players were missing. This time they are missing the talented Angel Gomes from Utd who was the best player along with Skipp and Kirby in the first fixtures.

Sadly I don't think it is being streamed but will be great to see how they get on. The options they have all over the park is quite special and whatever team they put out will be class. Will be interesting to get a report on who the best playes are

New Zealand were 1 nil up against Paraguay. They have now equalised luckily. If that stays the same we now just have to wait on Group E's results tonight
