Whoohoo! Great work Germany, although they should've put them away earlier. Linesman didn't help obviously.

England still indoctrinating hoofball into their youth rank. They'll never have success again, nor do they deserve any.

Germany deserved to win, no doubt about it. But does it always have to be like this?

What an embarrassing pile of wank that was. As ever, no tactical or coached approach whatsoever beyond a five minute jiz at the start of the first and second half.

The first half was shockingly bad, England just ambled around and watched Germany play football. The idiotic 442 once again in evidence (which bizarrely seemed to become a 424 without the ball, go figure) no coherence to anything England did with (the rare occasions they had it) or without the ball. Germany pinged the ball between the lines and down the flanks and it was just wastefulness that they didn't come in at half time a couple of goals to the good.

The second half, that monumental t**t Boothroyd did make a slight adjustment but from a coached or footballing perspective nothing really improved. England managed by some miracle to find themselves a goal up but unlike when Germany went a goal up and kept the football, England just reverted to plodding around like androids whose hard drives had all been infected by the same virus - the Trojan Boothroyd Zero Wipe virus - and once again it was only wastefulness and a linesman that kept England in this game, and it was immensely flattering that they eventually went out on penalties.

It's so fucking depressing. This wasn't an outstanding German side, missing many of it's best players, but the difference in coached and tactical approach was massive, and that's not because Germany were tactically innovative and advanced, or coached to play tiki taka to within an inch of their lives, it's just because where Germany had a basic philosophy of you know...."playing cohesive football" with and without the ball, England were just a footballing vacuum.

I pray to god winning two games out of 4 doesn't keep this fucking muppet in a job.

FA won't sack him. Will be admitting their failings then.

I noticed that the German manager, Stefan Kuntz, stated before the game that his side would not be practising taking penalties prior to this match. He reckoned that the atmosphere and tension of having just played 120 minutes football and then being required to take a spot kick could never be 're-created' so therefore trying to practise such a moment would be impossible.

Do you agree with this view or should teams practise taking penalties for big games ?

The difference between the U-20 and U-21 teams in my opinion is the following:

The under 20s were hungrier, worked for each other and played a system that suited their collective talents and they were allowed to play football.

The under 21s were made largely of players who have "made it", and are already on big money. There seems to be a subtle lack of effort and team work. The amount of times the England subs let their man run past them into space had nothing to do with fatigue but more like a "he is someone elses problem" sort of attitude.

How has Tammy Abraham done during the tournament. I thought he was supposed to be the next big thing in English football? I haven't been impressed from the little I have seen of him.

Boothroyd is a fucking tactical dinosaur. With nearly all our youth sides you can see there is atleast a attempt at implementing a certain philosophy of keeping possession, playing out from the back and pressing coherently. Boothroyd has this side playing 90's English football - defend deep, cede possession and hoof it down the channels - absolutely awful. It might work against lesser nations but once we come up against a team who enjoy possession we get absolutely run ragged.

We didn't deserve anything from the game tonight and the manager's tactical ineptness led to us ultimately losing the pen shoot out - our players were dead on their feet and there was no way they could concentrate long enough to see it though.

Hoofroyd out
