Wow! Think he has huge upside - wanted him when the big splurge happened...him and either morata or jesse
certainly worth going for at that price point

Quite like the player. Quick, aggressive, clever, and skillful.

Moar winger links, please.

Another one i've never figured out if he's actually mustard or just in the games i've seen him play and is bang average the rest of the time, or what. As DC says though, never get him for that price, unless Levy has plans to offer a swap - Lamela out, Deulofeu in?

edit: just remembered, Everton own his contract, huh? Lennon swap then

See. Just another reason why I don't understand when our fans bitch and moan endlessly when we're rumoured to loan a player (like Rabiot) with no purchase option.

A big chunk of the game is getting a player familiar with your team and selling it to him. Everton did this with Lukaku and Deulofeu without any purchase clause and lo and behold they both end up moving there while other teams were interested!

He's gone (going) to Everton.
Probably for the best, he doesn't look like he has that consistent acceleration/change of direction, and he averaged 45 minutes per appearance for Sevilla. Similar story at Everton, so he may be a poor man's VDV.

Still young at 21, but we've got others we'd prefer to invest 18 months in developing into starters.

He's currently wasting his ability, needs to mature fast.

Well that's interesting. That also rather significantly means Everton may not move for Lennon.

Nah I think Mirallas is leaving and they could really use two new ones.

Fair point, but both Deulofeu and Lennon operate on the right in Martinez' system, so I suspect they'd be more likely to move for a cheaper left winger if they needed to replace Mirallas.

Maybe, but Martinez moves guys around sometimes, so maybe he'll bring back the wonderful Lennon at LW.

Not to mention Deulofeu isn't likely coming in as a starter anyway, so it's somewhat irrelevant as I'm betting they plan on developing him more.

That is certainly possible, and I hope you're right, but I gotta say to me he just looks like a cheaper alternative to Lennon. I think your better argument is that Deulofeu would be a backup, as Martinez does like a shooter moving in from the left, and neither of them would offer that.

Deulofeu is essentially a better version of Lennon so I don't think he will come in as back up. I do think it is possible that Everton will sign both him and Lennon though.

If there is one "younger version of" player we need back in the side, it's a Lennon. Since he's gone our wide game is all but non-existant and Walkers tendency to get caught out going forward is so much more evident without Lennon being there to fill the gap.

Deulofeu really hasn't progressed as a player since his Everton loan. He struggled to take advantage of his Sevilla loan last year (although, there may have been an appearance bonus Sevilla were trying to avoid paying).

He's very fast, probably more adapted to the EPL, but there's got to be a reason Barca only want £4.5m for him. Attitude perhaps?

Luis Enrique wasn't impressed in pre-season so farmed him out on loan to Sevilla where he didn't establish himself. Now looks like he's being shown the door.
He's flashed real talent but been very inconsistent. He'd risk being another Falque or Ceballos for us, marginalised and not getting enough game time to integrate into the team or develop.
I'd rather we bought a player like Martial who had an excellent season last year, give Pritchard game time as the squad player, and let Josh Onomah play some minutes as the young hopeful.

I highly rate Unai Emery, if Deulofeu was anything special Emery would have played him more often. I've watched enough Valencia games and now Sevilla in Europe to know that Emery understands attacking play. Factor that in with the Barcelona transfer ban (they seem fine letting him go) and I'd imagine he's just not what everyone thought he would be.

The other side is that Aleix Vidal played wide right - in Deulofeu's position - and played so well Barca signed him.

The kid's got electric pace and fast feet. The rest of his game the jury is out.

Although Martial and Deulofeu wide on each side of Kane is a front three I like he look of. Electric pace stretching teams and creating space for Harry. Lamela and Eriksen competing for the No 10 role providing the bullets.
