We seem to be the only club interested in GLC and I suspect Betis are actually more interested in selling him to us than we are of signing him, which is a lot because we clearly want him.

I think this is a move by us designed to make Betis shit themselves, personally.
There's no way they are getting the money that they are asking. Considering we are the only team (we know of) who have made a solid bid then I can't imagine they will receive another bid in excess of that, especially as he didn't light the Copa America up the way that they had hoped.

If they are desperate for the cash they may come crawling back

Feels like we are the ones playing games for once

WTF is going on at my beloved Spurs, we are supposed to be the ones played and making shitty signings.....

United might pay 70 mil for him, they can spend 150 mil every summer and it wouldn't be a problem, because of all that revenue, but from GLC's perspective they are not a right fit, especially if you compare them to us.

Poch is a fellow Argentinian, there are Spanish speaking players in the dressing room, the culture of the club is about making progress. At United, he'd be instantly under pressure from fans and media and would not have somebody to talk to.

Even when you look at the price paid for Ndombele, he did well to keep it down to that level so early on.

Seems like Utd would prioritise Fernandes over Lo Celso.

I'd forgotten about him! IN which case it'd probably be Fernandes and a more defensive CM to replace Pogba.

To be fair, Levy has played games in the past and got good deals out of it (Hugo) but I think in recent years the inflation of everything meant that his games have not had the same affect. We'd go in with a low offer and someone would come in with a bid 10m+ more and take us out of the game. It's been frustrating.

The difference now is that with the success we have had (plus new stadium) we are able to make higher offers and with our new standing, players are actually preferring us to others (United, Chelsea, Goons).
I could never imagine we'd be in this position.

To be honest, the fact that Sky are saying it’s fallen over makes me more confident.

Not only are their ‘sources’ often no more than the mid-morning tea-lady, but it could also mean that Levy has just started to turn the screw - now TN is done and this has his full attention.

If the player wants to come I only see this ending one way.....we’ve been there enough times to know.

Forget about sources, and think about finances. It makes sense that absent an Eriksen move or spare parts that add up to money, we aren’t coming close to spending 70 on another player, and we may not even value him at that. If Eriksen happens and we get Ceballos back on loan we still maintain leverage with Betis to say we don’t need GLC at all costs. We have the same leverage with Eriksen here. IMO this is all about Eriksen and what happens there.

They want about 10m more than we paid for ND! Not gonna happen at test price. But I am positive about this deal. But you know the end part is my opinion.

Betis don't need to sell. I'm sure they'd be happy to keep him.

We'll see what happens.

Interesting the players we are looking at are an “8” and a “10”. From what I have been told About GLC he is more of a 8 - and there are other names in that position that have been linked to us. I think it obvious that GLC is a preferred option as is indicated by getting a definite price from Betis. As Herc says just because this price is more than we would pay does not mean we will not revisit.

Thanks Herc - be interested to know what our ceiling price is for him? As much as I would love him, at that price there's lots of options for us in that position. Shaping up to be great summer!

I'm sure Levy has told them best offer you'll get is the Ndombele fee, and rightfully so. I don't think many people would say Lo Celso is a better player than Ndombele.

Yyyyyeah, at that price, they can keep him. Not that Levy would ever pay it. Its one reason I like having him where he is.
