If it's business, wouldn't you want to overspend on a few players that you know that will most likely bring us success and lots of money in the future, weighing out the prices we paid in the first place? I would think of that being a smart business decision.
adding on - I take it you know more than me with regards to the financials - if paying the release is actually bad for the club - then fine. Just from my standpoint as a passionate fan I feel like we could do the extra 10, but maybe I'm wrong.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Levy knows how to handle the money. Coughing up an extra 10m on LoCelso could scupper other plans like Sessegnon or a RB replacement. Everything is linked.

Thinking about it though, it isn't really at all bad, it's just that we've been through it before so it's just that worry

We’re going to need to move on from this pretty sharpish if they aren’t budging on price and we actually have intentions of improving on last season.

Betis are actively pursuing Fekir so I think common sense tells us that it means they are prepared to sell Lo Celso.

As with the NDombele deal conversations have obviously happened between the clubs but now we just need to wait for Betis to sign a replacement. The media will string this along as it’s their job to get as much mileage from the deal as possible but I would be surprised if this deal didn’t happen.

How reliable is this Daily Hotspur dude?

He/she is an aggregator: collecting info from around the web/twitter and passing it on. In this case they're relaying some info from a journalist from French TV channel Canal +. If you click on @RomainCG75 in the tweet you can see the original French source.

Ok so there reason we don’t just pay the release fee, it needs to be paid in full, in cash.

We would need to take out a loan to repay the deal, which we will have to pay interest on and we’d be unnecessarily exposed to currency risk. It is not rocket science why we negotiate with the selling club not, repayments are without interest and structured in a way that is the most painless for the club.

Finally, there are very few clubs that pay the release fee even if they can. There are several reasons behind this, the main reason is that it is incredibly bad from a business standpoint to keep that much money liquid.

Mate it’s business, not football.

I’d be shocked if they didn’t hedge the currency risk mate.

Strikes me as a similar set up to how we handled the Bale sale. Spent the money before the clubs in question knew we had it, then made the Bale move official.

Hopefully this is Betis buying before officially sanctioning the sale, with GLC needing a break after COPA and the first team heading off in tour, the need to expedite the transfer is reduced.

The ITKs said from the outset we were going for Ndombele and Lo Celso and any other purchases after that would be dependent on Eriksen and others leaving, why make it complicated?
Exactly

The proof will be in the pudding. Meanwhile its a lot of guesswork

GLC came up early as Poch’s target. If that’s the case, I’m sure in Poch’s mind, he is a must have. We are clearly changing up our style of play and formation. GLC has clearly been identified as a big part of that irrelevant of Eriksen staying or going. Surely this is just a case of the lad needs at least a weeks break after a long season and major tournament. He needs some time out rather than being chased down for media interviews. I could be wrong, but think we’re all being way too impatient.

How many times have we nearly bought players after protracted negotiations and we never bought them.If anyone has real news let me know

You are not wrong. Its a question of how bad we want the player. We saw from the Ndombele deal that we didn't take too much time ,thats the player we wanted and we were going to get him (we get the benefit of hindsight I agree) but in this case we are bouncing around several AMs and also the elephant in the room is Eriksen and there is no news on that. That's what adds up for me,it doesn't add up yet.
