I like the look of him. Young, talented, versatile. Loads of potential. Would potentially give us good depth that we've been lacking.

People moaning about spending 30m on him...are you living in a cave? Look at what players have been going for this summer and ask yourself who you'd be expecting us to sign for 30m that you'd regard as money well spent? Swansea have rejected a 40m bid for Sigurdsson. That's the market we're dealing with now, like it or not.

If he's our only signing, then yes that's underwhelming. If we also bring in Barkley and maybe another, then it's looking like potentially very good business.

Suprised we are in for another No9 if true,
but glad of it, if Jansen doesn't start to hit the back of the net when called upon it would be good to have another option.
If Poch see something in this kid that's good enough for me, just think we are more in need of a pacey wing forward like Zaha or Redmond.

From the ITK and Twitter I am 100% sure it's him.

He'd be a very interesting signing. Has the hallmarks of a great player. If he's got his Dad's win at all costs attitude. I'm sure he'll be a superstar.

I'd be surprised if this is the signing described as being one "most" supporters would be happy with. He's not going to be usurping Kane any time soon, so I'd much rather we spent money on someone that could actually challenge the first 11.

That's not to say he's a bad player. Admittedly I'd not heard of him before, but he does look to have a bit of the Suarez type tenacity and ability to somehow wriggle free of his markers. If he was in addition to a RB, a speedy AM and Barkley, then sure, but that seems unlikely at this stage in the window.

Thing is obviously no one is taking Kanes place, but it's exactly the same with Eriksen and Dele too. If Son shows same form no one is taking his place either. All we can do is sign options to have on the bench who offer us something when required. He's a mobile striker, who could stretch opposition defences with his movement and cause problems late in games, i'd definitely have him.

I appreciate that, but there is one CF in our system, and Kane is incredibly consistent. There are usually 3 AM positions available, and Son in particular is not consistent in the way that Kane is, so there will be significantly more opportunities for a good AM than a good CF in my opinion.

One thing we know about the Pochettino/Levy combo by now, signings aren't only judged based on how likely it is that they'll actually play a lot.

He's being signed to be that plan b #9, when Kane drops to 10. Janssen just doesn't have the mobility or touch, nor the tenacity (which is something Simeone clearly has).

I think it is a bit early to say 'He's being signed'.

I quite like the look of him. The PL may be the deepest/strongest league in the world, but having superb technique is less important than it is in Italy or Spain. Players can get by with reasonable technique if they have some pace, power and tenacity which he clearly has in some abundance.

He clearly does suit Poch's mentality so I can see why the link would be made.

Janssen struggles to find space in the EPL and I think Simeone would too after being afforded masses of it in Italy.

I don't think he needs it that much. His movement in the box is very good
I have to say I don't particularly rate Simeone and I prefer another kind of striker. But imo his movement and offensive awareness makes him a decent option as a backup as he doesn't need much to score. He's a poacher. Outside the box he's useless. I don't know how some got to the conclusion he can play wide or run past players. He can't imo. He's not good at it
But I do think he can be a good impact sub when we want to add people up front, to bully the defenders or make good runs to head crosses from trippier or Rose

Son got 21 goals and 6 assists last season! Better than most strikers in league.

IMO buying another striker would ease the pressure on Kane and give him some opportunity to come off the bench sometimes or get some rest (League Cup i.e.). Also, buying a new striker would also give Janssen some competition and force him to pick up his game and start showing what he is capable of. Something I now he is. And last, we can't just buy anyone, they got to have the right qualities and step up whenever Kane is not capable/injured
