I know it isn't a 'rule' but the current perception that contact is a foul baffles me. The slightest touch in the penalty area is a foul but anywhere else on the pitch is OK. To me, a foul has to have some intent.

Agree, attackers only have to feel a defender's breath on the back of their neck in the penalty box and they start to go down these days. Rock and hard place for any full back ...do I let him score or give away a penalty.

Going back to the original change mentioned in this thread, the back pass rule.

There was a direct link between this rule being introduced and the end of Liverpools footballing dominance. I remembered the constant, anti-football, Hansen to Grobbelaar time-wasting when they were 1-0 up. As soon as they were unable to rely on this tactic they went into footballing decline.

I like the back pass rule.

You've got to feel for Liverpool a bit.. they had a period of unprecedented dominance by exploiting a tactic and then the powers that be change the rules to their detriment. This season they look to be moving into another period of dominance but then the introduction of VAR is going to put a dent in their Mane offside goal / Salah sniper in the stands peno routines so it's hard to see them smashing through the league in the same way again.
