Back with a meh...
Good Week
Ryan Mason
Picked up an ankle knock against Burnley and was put on the bench for the win at City, but was brought on at half time and played the full game against United. It's clear that he is not just first choice in midfield right now, but offers so much that he cannot even be rested.
Benjamin Stambouli
Made his first starts in the Premier League. That's the positives. Negatives are he was the one subbed at half time for Mason at City, and too often the game passed by him (and the rest of our midfield) against United.
Ben Davies
Missed out at the King Power, and absence made the heart grow fonder. It took a while, but he is our number one left back now.
Andros Townsend
Given an opportunity in a big game, showing that he is not absent from the manager's thoughts. Put in a not too bad performance. Ironically, unlike others it seems like Andros is almost trying too hard, and it's his willingness/need to show he is worthy of a place in the team that causes him to try to do something extra, which often is something too much. When he does the simple, quickly, he can be very effective.
Milos Veljkovic
Earned rave comments from his temporary boss Aitor Karanka after coming on for the final half hour in the loss at Ipswich a week back, and earned a first start this weekend. His loan move is set to expire next month, so the fact he is getting more game time now even though it might not benefit Middlesbrough beyond January shows he must have earned his chance through hard work and ability.
Hugo Lloris
I don't normally comment about player performance when it is not a deviation from the mean, but Hugo deserves credit for the sheer consistency of his immense performances. He has managed to be even better since receiving the captain's armband.
Bad Week
Younes Kaboul
From one captain to another. Not only is Younes firmly behind the first choice pairing of Vertonghen and Fazio, he appears to have fallen behind Dier too. His performances have been poor; has it been so bad that we might see him leave in January?
Danny Rose
Given a chance against Leicester and showed only that he is not a player to come in and out of a side and still perform at a high level. I don't think he will be happy playing second fiddle for the rest of the season, but he'll struggle if he can only play well with a run of games under his belt.
Roberto Soldado
After a run of games, Bobby has fallen back to the bench and with Eriksen and Kane doing so well there is little reason to see him come back into the side.
Aaron Lennon
Never mind the bench, narrowing Lennon whereabouts down to a five mile radius would be a start!
