A little late, apologies, so lets get right to it.

Good Week

Hugo Lloris

First premier league start, a first premier league clean sheet. The only man more relieved that Benteke did not score was AVB – god knows what the press would have said if dropping Friedel had cost us points.

As it is, the Frenchman showed what he is good at – quick off his line, looking to get play moving quickly whenever he is in possession – and also looked accomplished under the high ball. Whether he keeps his spot for Chelsea is up for debate, although personally now Brad’s run has been ended I think it will be a struggle for him to get back in as our no.1

Aaron Lennon

When he is on form the little man is a terror for the opposition. You can tell when he isn’t fully fit as he does not show the desire to take on his man, but right now every time he gets the ball he is driving forward, committing men, and looking to create opportunities. His partnership with Walker is working very well but the question has always been – does he have enough goals in him? (Goals from the side!!)

In AVB’s system the ‘wide’ men need to get their fair share of goals, and it could be said that, Bale apart last season, not enough goals have come from the midfield, regardless of the system. Azza’s goal on Saturday was his first in nine months, and he’ll need to improve on that, but when Lennon scores we win. If only he can score more often....

He was finally rewarded with a recall to the England team and picked up a couple of assists.

Michael Dawson

Captain against Panathaniakos, he marked his return with a goal in an otherwise woeful game.

Steven Caulker

A first Spurs and Premier League goal, the young man is quickly establishing himself as one of the top English centre back talents, as we all hoped. If he can remain in the team for the foreseeable future, and there is little reason to think otherwise, then he will surely break earn his first England cap by the end of the season.

He oozes the class of, dare I say it, Ledley King, and is more advanced in his development than King was at the same age.

Uefa Cup

I refuse to call it anything else, but AVB looks like he will treat the competition with the respect it once had. Shame the players were not really up for it.

Bad Week

Michael Dawson

Toche was hardly the most rapid of forwards but he looked like a white Usain Bolt as he ran free of Daws. A lack of game time obviously doesn’t help but it is not a great sign. With the emergence of Caulker, its unlikely Daws will get a run in the team, making it harder for Michael to show he is worry of a starting place when he does come on to the pitch.

Brad Friedel

I did not want to put him in this section because his record of consecutive league appearances was fantastic and his performances have been very good, but last week pointed to the start of the end of his Spurs career, and possibly his career as a professional footballer (although no one would bet on him going until he was 60)

The Subs table

Players get points if they come on and Spurs move from a loss to a draw or win, or draw to a win. They also pick up points if Spurs were in a better position when they were subbed off than the final result. They lose points for the opposite scenarios.

The dropped points from the game in Greece see Townsend and Sigurdsson take a blow from their sub appearances.

Defoe + 4
Caulker + 3
Lennon +2
Dempsey +2

Sandro 0
Kane 0
Adebayor 0
Mason 0

Townsend -2
Jenas -2
Huddlestone -2
Sigurdsson - 5

Good Week: AVB
You forgot AVB who made a good call on Lloris which as you say
almost went disasterously wrong for both of them but it didn't.
More clear lillywhite water between him and his critics.

I thought Lennon and Walker played better together for England than they have for Spurs
partly because Aaron played at least half the time inside giving Walker a clearer run
and an easier set of decisions to make, whilst making himself useful the meanwhile around the place.

Good little column this.

I would probably include adebayor in the good section here. I know he didn't play for too long but he came on showed a good attitude and importantly, held the ball up well.

It didn't go unnoticed by AVB who singled him out for praise. We desperately need him as a different option. And he did his chances no harm.
