Good Week
Gareth Bale
Three awards and a storming winner. He has struggled to regain his fluency since he picked up that ankle injury against Basel, but he can score goals out of nothing and demonstrated that on Saturday.
Overall, he didn’t play well but then again the team as a whole struggled, but when it came to the crunch Bale was there, thank god.
Hugo Lloris
A first clean sheet bonus since the start of February.
Harry Kane
His loan spell at Leicester will continue for two more games at least.
Jon Obika
Another poacher’s goal for Charlton. Whether he will ever cut it at Spurs is arguable, but he is showing he can score goals at Championship level.
Massimo Luongo
A lovely finish in Swindon’s play-off first leg against Brentford to open the scoring. Should be playing at Championship level next season at worst.
Souleymane Coulibaly
A first professional goal.
Bad Week
AVB
We can talk tactics all day, but after finding an apparent winning formula in the last 20 minutes against City, AVB seems to have lost a little focus. However, a tough game like Chelsea could be right down his alley.
We have struggled against some of the lesser lights of the Premier League and it is troubling that we still lack shape when we attack. It is no surprise to see the manager say we need to invest in the summer, and I think his number one priority will be to get a first choice front man in.
Massimo Luongo
Gave away a 94th minute penalty that meant Swindon drew 1-1 with Brentford in their first leg play-off semi final.
Our medical department
Both Dembele and Lennon came off with recurrences of their injuries. I can see why we want them back but, especially with Dembele, you have to wonder if it was worth the risk, especially as the Belgian’s performance levels have dipped recently. Perhaps a gamble too far?
