Good Week
Emmanuel Adebayor
He has been largely abysmal this season, which makes his two fantastic performances last week even more infuriating.
We all know he is a quality player, and his goal against Chelsea was a worldie. Manu was largely anonymous up until that point, but his second half performance was everything you could want from a target man – strength, touch, work rate, vision, link up. His assist was a great touch, another thing that has been absent for most of the season, but he was deservedly Man of the Match in midweek.
At the weekend he popped up with the winner, and despite the Match of the Day commentators saying he had done nothing all game, I thought it had done well although it was frustrating to see so few players (i.e. zero) in the box until Defoe’s arrival.
Has those two performances and goals saved his Spurs career? I’m not sure, I would not gamble on a player as inconsistent as Adebayor to lead our line next season, but I’m slightly less worried should he stay. Whatever happens, we need one more performance from Ade on Sunday.
Clint Dempsey
Like many, I’m not exactly sure what our American forward brings to the table. Not blessed with great technical ability, pace, strength or vision, Dempsey nevertheless keeps popping up at the right time, in the right place, and I’m not sure how many other Spurs players could have scored that opener at Stoke.
His introduction at Stamford Bridge also coincided with our best spell of the game there, although he rarely got on the ball he at least offered some support upfront.
When everyone is fit Dempsey should not be starting but he is a very good utility player, the kind that will be valuable if we want to compete on multiple fronts next season.
Jon Obika
A couple of goals for the U21s on Monday night, including a trademark late winner. He is clearly too good for our reserve team but will he be given a chance in the first team? Unlikely, but you never know.

Yet more set piece goals conceded. Individually and collectively we are very, very weak, and it is pretty much the only real issue that remains unresolved under AVB.
