Unless he doesn't get along with Sherwood (which I doubt) then there's no way we're selling him to the Championship, if anything I'd expect to see him training with the first team next season if Tim is still the head coach.

That's what you'd think but twice people from Swindon have mentioned about 'if someone pays the money for him' and know this, I know it's only the daily star but it's the comments from the Swindon side which make me think there might be something to it

I would be gutted if we sold Alex, great talent imo and a talent better suited to the PL.

We should of loaned him to derby but Leicester would be a great loan imo

If Pritchard does go I'd like to think there would be a similar (reported) clause that Luongo had when he transferred there. It is like having a Spurs B really, though obviously it'd be better if Swindon were in the Championship. Could still get in the play-offs this season...

Said it before and I'll say it again: 500k or 1m, whatever it is, it's chump change for a club our size. It makes no sense whatsoever for us to sell a talent like Pritchard, even if we aren't convinced of his lasting appeal at a club our size, for such a small fee given how good he could become. If he goes to a Championship and performs, there's no telling what could be offered as PL clubs could even become interested. As it stands, we are far better served just holding on to him, continuing his progress and seeing how he develops.

What can we really do with the money he'd haul in right now? Nothing. Hold on to him, play the gambling game that if he continues to develop he could realistically be worth a lot more than he is now.

Agreed, but I felt this of Luongo too. This was a player with imo premier league potential, who given more opportunity would prove to be worth a lot more than the £500k or whatever it was we got for him (in fact his performances since may have already raised his worth). I always felt that if he were to be given a chance he'd at least prove himself better than Livermore (who's now rated at what, £4-5m?).

Fair enough if our coaches came to the decision that he wasn't ultimately going to make it for us, but as with Pritchard he was an asset. One that I would have looked to loan out once or twice more, assuming we weren't able to give him games ourselves, and at a higher level than league 1. The hope being that he would attract a substantial fee later on. We may have a sell on clause with him now but a club like Swindon are never going to pull in a great amount. What we'd make would be negligible.

I fear that the same will happen with Pritchard. OK, perhaps Tim and co don't think he'll be a first teamer for us but I'd be surprised if they don't believe he's got a shot at a lower level in the PL. He'd looked very good everywhere he's been so far so why not? It's at a higher level but just look at how Chelsea maximise the value of youngsters they never actually use themselves. They loan them out until they're ready to turn a decent profit. It seems to me a solid way forward for a club like ours who appear dependent on sales.

From the sounds of this article and the quotes within it, Swindon Town love them some Alex Pritchard.

n a fans’ phone-in last night, manager Mark Cooper said he was delighted in particular to hold onto Pritchard, admitting he was aware of interest from Championship clubs in the midfieldearlier this month.

Huddersfield Town, Blackburn Rovers and Wolves are all understood to have taken a look at Pritchard but no one met parent club Tottenham’s valuation of the player.

Cooper said: “I know there was quite a bit of interest from Championship clubs earlier in January and fees spoken about with Tottenham.”

Port Vale 2 Swindon Town 1 (Ranger 51)

This is a smooth counter attack from Town. Smith pulls back for Pritchard whose delicate cross is headed in by Ranger at ther back post. Game on.

Port Vale 2 Swindon Town 2 (Pritchard 65)

It's another out of this world free-kick from Alex Pritchard. Fully 25 yards out, left of centre, whipping and fizzing into the top corner. Neal had no chance.

Port Vale 2 Swindon Town 3 (Byrne 68)

Astonishing stuff from Swindon Town. It's another wonderful counter attack from the visitors, with Pritchard finding Smith who crosses for Byrne to just about squeeze home.

Heavily involved in all three goals it seems. Really shouldn't be thinking about selling him.

Surely we can't sell Pritchard yet? On this form he's worth at least another season. We've got him on a contract so what's the worst that can happen? Even if he doesn't prove himself good enough for us his value can only increase. Right now we'd get a pittance for him when clearly he has the potential to be worth a decent amount (the sales of Luongo and arguably Smith were similar scenarios). Should be on loan at a Championship level club at the least.

Some quotes from Swindon fans on our boy:

People need to realise how lucky we are to have Pritchard.

Pritchard has it in his locker to make you feel vindicated for a good chunk of our games, in the other ones the vindication will be mine

He's seems to be excellent is some and very meh in others. Should have put money on him today really after being out for 2 games.

Probably our stand out player on these days, it's the other ones that are the problem.

I think sometimes he tries to do too much, but he obviously has talent.

Certainly our most creative player, but hasn't got the consistency to go with it.
If he can get that he will probably be a decent Premier League player.

The thing I do like about him is that he doesn't sulk or hide when things go wrong he does still go looking for the ball & he works really hard.

Yep agree. He has a great attitude for the game no doubt. We are a poorer team without him.

this is one of the reasons I rate him, even when he isn't getting in the game he never gives up.

The other part of his game he needs to work on is keeping his mouth shut and not diving.

Pritchard is our most potent threat going forward and getting the ball in the right place. Spurs jokes aside, we are lucky the relationship we have with them has proved fruitful with this particular player.

Howard was capable of turning a game for us, I think Pritchard has the same ability to do that.

Unbelievable strike for the second - I was convinced it was too far out. Pritchard was involved in pretty much everything, occasionally wasteful, occasionally unstoppable.
