Rotherham United have signed midfielder Grant Ward on loan from @SpursOfficial subject to FL and PL ratification.
Rotherham United‏@OfficialRUFC
SE: “Grant has a big career in front of him and he has the opportunity to make steps up the ladder with a successful loan spell with #rufc.”

http://www.themillers.co.uk/news/article/rotherham-united-2539142.aspx More good words from Rotherham on his loan signing

Sending him to Chicago Fire seems to have been the making of him - had a good time there playing as a wing firward, followed by a great loan at Coventry (League 1) playing as a CM - and several fans there wanted to vote him as player of the season after his performances there.

Two goals in friendlies for Rotherham, and some very generous and welcoming words from Rotherham

If he performs for Rotherham as he did for Coventry I think we have a PL player on our hands - might not be at Spurs as he's probably got better players in front of him in his chosen positions, but as a Utility player who plays well at CM, W/F, FB and pretty well anywhere he's a great option as a squad player/bench option for most PL sides

This kid was so far down the list of prospects, but the MLS loan has done him wonders. Playing senior football every week has accelerated his learning/development and well done to him for going out there, working hard and bettering himself and now he's come back and looks pretty well set in terms of some sort of career, if maybe not with us. Fair play to him.

I think Grant Ward is a mature and hungry footballer. His loans to Chicago, then to English lower league and now Rotherham shows that he is not afraid of hardship, out of his comfort zone or "the long climb up the ladder" to be a better footballer. He appears to know and understand where "he is at" presently and what needs to be done to reach the top - his early loan to Rotherham shows that! Instead of waiting or wanting to "sit on the bench" of the first team, he made an early decision to go out and play. He might not be special now, but his attitude and work rate is top notch. A player to really follow. All the best to him!!!

26) GOAL - Grant Ward makes it three in three after he converts from a cross from the left flank. #rufc #atfc

62) GOAL - Grant Ward gets his second of the evening to put #rufc back in front. He smashes home on the angle in the box.

That's 4 goals in 3 games pre-season. He apparently started on the right tonight.

Great result for him personally. Very versatile, wonder if Rotherham can turn him into a striker (he played there a few times for u18's)

I think he's got a future with us, even though he has to compete with far more promising players for the central midfield role. He seems like the kind of player every squad would benefit from. He can play as a central midfielder, or as a winger, or as a fullback, I think he's even played striker before. Being able to cover so many positions makes him ideal for squad depth.

http://www.themillers.co.uk/news/article/alfreton-v-rotherham-report-2547052.aspx

Grant Ward celebrated his loan agreement with the Millers by grabbing his third goal in as many pre-season outings on 26 minutes. The Spurs’ loanee arrived late at the back post to bundle in a cross from the left to give the Millers the lead.

After the scare the Millers went straight down the other end to regain the lead. Sub Tom Rose’s ball forward found Grant Ward who smashed the ball beyond sub ‘keeper Nick Draper from the angle of the penalty area for his second goal of the night.

Second goal sounds pretty decent...

Agreed, he seems to have a fantastic attitude/mentality, not afraid to put in the graft abroad or some far place like Rotherham

In the long run, i think a player of this kind of attitude and some talents will make it at the very top. Interesting player to follow. We shall see how far he can go.

"On loan Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Grant Ward gets his first goal in Rotherham United colours as he finds the top corner in the friendly against Parkgate."

Edit: Didn't see beforehand that Blake Griffin had posted in youth thread.

Sounds like our very own, homegrown James Milner.

Strong, tenacious, quick, dogged, focused and can execute.

He's gotta be on the list as one to come through.
