Moved house couple weeks ago so I decided to support my now local team Prescot Cables v Clitheroe. Home from work changed, 5 mins walk to the ground. £8 entrance, stand/sit where you like. Decent crowd for lower tier side.
1-0 down at half time but won 4-1. Freezing on that open terrace. The ball landed in someone's garden. Cuppa tea and a pie or beer ! Cables 3rd in Evostick league. Chippy on way home then watched the Mighty Spurs !! Best afternoon for a while. I'll be going watching Cables as often as I can. In dire need of money for the ground. Seen first hand that grassroots football gets nothing and ashamed that it all goes to the very top table!

Proper football. I used to love playing Sunday pub league football. 10:30 ko on some cabbage patch pitch come wind and rain, and after both teams decamped to the home teams pub for Sunday dinner and a few pints.

I find watching my lad's U13 matches on a Sunday just as nerve wracking as watching a Spurs game, maybe because there's more at stake when he's in goal.
At that level it's also interesting to see the pitches and facilities different teams have. His team have their own ground, pitches and clubhouse, whereas for every other team we've played away from home it's council pitches. The difference is astonishing!
This past weekend the kids had to play on a full-sized adult pitch. Absolutely ridiculous. It's no wonder the team they played had better results away than at home.

Who did you bottle & how many Clits did you trample on? Only asking as footy fans seem to need to be segregated. ;-)

I like that you're supporting local. You've inspired me to look up Ashford Town or Staines home fixtures. Might be worth going to watch them

Prescot Cables Football Club is the most senior football club in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley and is a Community Interest Company. As such, membership is open to all – supporters may purchase a share in the club for an annual subscription of £5.00.

Recently moved to Margate and have been trying to find the time to get down to Hartsdown Road for a match. Was originally really excited to see John Chiedozie's son play up front for them but he has since been transferred. Margate FC have recently got a lot of national press for their new kit being sponsored by The Libertines, which it seems has brought in a decent bit of money in shirt sales.
