Speaking to the Telegraph this week after penning his new five-year contract at the club, Grealish admitted the period had been unsettling and he did think he was off to Tottenham Hotspur, and obviously his thoughts had turned to getting into the England squad by the end of the season as well as playing Champions League football.

He’s so disappointed that he signed new contract! He could have let it run down and kept options open for a future move.

1 Assist in10 games so far this year as an attacking mid! Stats aren't everything but that is pretty weak to me for a Championship team.

He has been woeful this season, and that is according to Villa fans. One of them pointed out that if he had been earning £45,000 a week for the past 5 years, he would be costing you about £250,000 per goal OR assist.

Maddison was the talented dickhead in the Championship as he actually has end product.

Levy's failing was never not signing Grealish, it was deciding Grealish was the target in the first place.

He’s on a different level to everyone at Villa. But he’s clearly not at our level. He maybe had the potential to get to that level under Poch but Levy isn’t paying £40m+ for potential.

As has been said by some pundits and ex players, you need to keep new blood coming in to freshen things up and keep other players on their toes etc. Still can’t believe that we’re the only team in the 26 years of the Premier League not to sign someone in the summer transfer window. Could only happen at Spurs! Lol

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I get that. Pity because clearly if Grealish had signed and fulfilled his potential under Poch then his sell on value would have dwarfed a 40 million pound transfer fee. I agree through - whether Levy is right or wrong, the reality is that he makes the decisions.

His options are more open now than they were, at least now everyone knows where they stand.

For world class potential he will, at least he did once with Davinson. Has to have the money in the cupboard before hand though.

If Poch got a hold of him he would turn the boy into a midfield genius. But the price quoted was a joke
