It's a smart strategy. Buy them young and cheap, put them on loan and let them develop value before selling...

If Arnesen hadn't fucked us over I think we would have been doing the same. It's definitely a strategy they employed going after loads of youth players and then selling them on for profit. To be fair we are doing ok from our accademy. Mason, Caulker, Livermore etc all went for good fees.

How much would be a reasonable price for him? I'd happily see him back in the squad, he would be raring to prove himself, we were a shambles style wise under AVB.

on Danny Rose's birthday the other day, when Parker rejoined, the 1st anniv of signing Wanyama, the 28th anniv of signing Lineker, 2nd anniv of signing Trippier, 30yrs on from Clive Allen's big season. The difference is that Gylfi plays for Swansea now.. although Spurs did also wish Ryan Mason a happy birthday. There are probably more but I can't be bothered to keep scrolling down. The 'on this day' seems a standard filler post at the moment.

They'd want £25m at least for him. I'd sooner us just offer £30m plus for Barkley if it's a choice between those two. He's around a similar level only 3/4 years younger.

i think they would want a lot more than 25m for him
sissoko was 30m and Gylfi has had a lot better last couple of seasons than him

Always struck me as a "nearly" man.. Nearly on the end of that cross, nearly making a tackle, nearly making that interception, nearly beating his man etc, etc. Take away his set pieces, his end product is nothing special and bringing him back would be a retrograde move in my humble opinion. I think there are more pressing issues to chase ahead of Siggy

Such a shambles under AVB, that we amassed 72 points, which is our 2nd highest points tally during premiership era..

Lol stats again I see, did u enjoy our style of play? Basically give the ball to Bale.
No, I thought our style of player to be turgid at best , but to suggest we were a shambles whilst amassing 72 points is bollocks.. Bale was exceptional, but no different to other one player team in recent times.. Sanchez has been carrying the Goons for the last two seasons.

We had no style, nothing Bale was the team. When I say shambles I meant tactically, players in stupid positions seeming terrified to pass the ball.

Gylfi was misused so badly by both AVB & Sherwood.

I distinctly remember 4-0 thrashing to Liverpool, when he was made to play CM with Bentaleb, forwards- Chadli, Lennon, Soldado and back 4 had Kaboul & Nagughton. I mean come on....

Gylfi was sold just when Poch took over. Even Last season, Poch said that was a mistake. Infact Poch went on this monologue :

“I think after he moved to Swansea and we saw his development at Swansea, he was a perfect player for us, But it was a club decision and his decision to move to Swansea and find another way. Every time we meet him and see him, he shows his quality – not only as a player but like a man. All the people here talk very highly about him. It’s a shame but sometimes in football you never know what will happen. There are no regrets.

When we arrived at Tottenham we had 34 senior players and it was difficult to assess them all in the first few weeks, because we did not have enough time. The decision when we were in Seattle was for him to play the first friendly game. I remember he was in the starting XI to play that match and I had a call to say: ‘OK, the agreement is done with Swansea.’ When the club and player decide to move, there is nothing you can do about that.”

If there is a chance to buy him back, I will back it all the time. Looking at above reply from Poch, its not impossible if things come together.

Might be nothing, but SSN Saying odds on him Joining us have been slashed in the last few hours. Clearly betting money being thrown at the idea.

"SIGURDSSON BACK TO SPURS?

There's news of a very interesting market move from Sky Bet.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been cut from 22/1 at the start of the day to 5/4 to return to Tottenham.

Everton are favourite to sign the Iceland international at 4/5 and he can be backed at 7/1 to remain with Swansea."

Could be that this Tweet caused it or could be the fire behind the smoke...

One of those where if you could go back in time and keep him it would make a lot of sense. At the money and age he is now it just doesn't make sense to do it. I remember watching him for swansea against us hammering shots in and looking really dangerous. I said to my mate then we should sign him and was really happy when we did. If Poch had him in the revolving 4-2-3-1 he would be of been excellent for us.
